Not surprisingly rain entered said hole and damaged forty of the fully furnished bedrooms. One set of contractors are trying to finish the hotel and another set of contractors are carrying out the refit of carpet and furnishings for the damaged rooms. As Homer Simpson is apt to say DOH!

Known as job creation.

In Bristol, and probably other places, you wil see council contractors parking their lorry on pavements that they are repairing following damage caused by motorists driving there to park, thus creating more damage by parking their lorry on a previously undamaged section of pavement.

Easyjet full summer schedule released this Thursday (3rd) while thomson launch their winter 17/18 on Thursday 17th.

Be interesting to see if there are any new routes from either.

This coming week should see the timetable for the main part of the summer - easyJet has this peculiar way of releasing summer seasons in batches with the first batch running until the latter part of June.

Whether the peak season programme will add frequencies or new routes remains to be seen. I can't recall new routes for BRS being announced in the past at the same time as the next instalment of the booking timetable is released although I could be wrong on this.

Some years we've looked at a published timetable and seen gaps which have later been filled by new routes.

It does seem odd that anyone wanting to book say a sun flight with easyJet next August cannot yet do so whereas competitors have had their full summer schedules released and bookable for a while. As I said, they've been doing this for a few years. You can't help wondering how many punters they've lost who had already booked with someone else by the time the easyJet peak summer offering became available.

That's what Monarch did last year when they were negotiating new terms with LBA. Like you say, it's not great for anyone wanting to book early. Is it normal for Easyjet to release it's flights so late?

Bristol Airport have removed the apron website as it is only used by a limited amount of users. They say they are looking at other ways to share this information.
I very much doubt we will ever see mayfly's ever again. First the stands were removed and now the whole site is gone.
I had commented to the airport in the past that it was innovative in sharing this information, but how times have changed.

An interesting read this morning on Anna.aero, BRS-ZRH is the "Unserved Route of the Week".
There is some great analysis in the article. Maybe we could see this route opened up again sooner rather than later?

http://www.anna.aero/2016/11/09/bri...earches-last-year-destination-8-bmi-regional/

Previous "Unserved Route of the Week" over the last month have included:
Valencia - Budapest
Atlanta - Tel Aviv
Marseille - New York
Tampa - Salt Lake City

It is therefore quite impressive to be included in that list!

its a perfect route for bmi at 2 rotations a day. a poster on dried plum remarked that bmi have no spare aircraft or crew to operate at 2 a day.
perhaps time bmi looked at fleet increase.

Could they also look at increasing the size of their aircraft? 80 seaters maybe? Get some E170's into their fleet?

The Bristol Spotting group is to carry on the Mayfly on their website, great news! I miss picking up a copy from the information desk in the old terminal for 35p.

I see brs was named as the 4th fastest airport in the uk From the aircraft to walking out of terminal. It was said a lot of times were 15 mins.

There was certainly an item on the teatime HTV West (or whatever it is called these days) News with a reporter at the airport and interviews with the minister and the airport CEO, Robert Sinclair.

The airport has released this press release - https://www.bristolairport.co.uk/ab...of-state-for-transport-visits-bristol-airport - although I have seen nothing in the local paper.

Secretary of State for Transport visits Bristol Airport

Chris Grayling to officially open £24m terminal extension

The Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling, visited Bristol Airport today (2 December) to officially open a £24 million terminal extension. On his first official visit to the Airport, the Transport Secretary unveiled a plaque in the state-of-the-art security screening area at the heart of the new development.

The 9,000 square metre extension also includes bigger baggage reclaim, customs, and meet and greet areas, and forms part of development plans which will enable 10 million passengers a year to use the Airport - the largest in the South West of the UK, and England’s third busiest outside London.

Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling, said:
“Our regional airports are vital engines for growth, supporting local economies, creating jobs and boosting tourism opportunities. The significant investment that Bristol Airport is making will secure the future of this important transport link for the South West and make a real difference to the growing number of passengers who travel through it each day.”

Robert Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer at Bristol Airport, said:
“Since 2010 we have invested more than £150 million in the Airport’s infrastructure in order to make Bristol Airport the number one choice for travel to and from South West England and South Wales. This new extension transforms the departure experience for passengers, and the ‘sense of place’ we are instilling throughout the terminal aims to create a similarly positive impression for inbound visitors.

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to show the Transport Secretary how we in the South West are playing our part in demonstrating that the UK is open for business, and discussing areas where Government can make a difference, such as overseas tourism marketing and surface transport links.”

Completion of the terminal extension will enable the immigration hall to be enlarged by spring of next year, with plans in place for a £2.3 million upgrade including the installation of up to 10 of the latest ePassport gates. A further £20 million is being invested across the Airport’s car parks and a 201 room Hampton-by-Hilton hotel will open in February 2017.

The route network available from Bristol Airport is also growing, with direct flights to 116 destinations and frequent daily services to major hubs including Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin and Frankfurt. From May 2017, Thomson Airways will operate the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Florida and Mexico, highlighting the scope for more direct long-haul destinations in future.

In the third quarter of 2016, Bristol Airport was ranked number one in the UK by the customer satisfaction benchmarking programme, Airport Service Quality (ASQ), and has been the UK’s most punctual airport for the past two years according to league tables measuring on-time performance published by data specialist OAG.

Highly likely that Cardiff will lose their epassport gates next summer as they wont pay for it.

caught a little bit on bbc breakfast today about disabled pax handleing. the airport are top in the uk for dealing with all asspects of disabled needs etc.didnt catch all what was said. wondering if any one else seen it.

I've just started a thread in the Aviation Industry forum regarding new CAA guidelines for dealing with passengers with hidden disabilities. BRS issued a press release regarding the matter today and I've copied it to that thread as it's not just related to BRS. I think that's what was discussed on the BBC national tv this morning. My wife saw the end of the item.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
