I noticed tonight that the easyjet banners on the tunnel flyover have been taken down. Anybody know why? The flight is still bookable on the easyjet website.

This maybe due to LBIA not having planning consent by the council. I believe they may have got into trouble last time by leeds city council, something to do with planning permission.

The banner could also contravene advertising on a public highway law as laid down in the Highways Act.

Could there also be a simpler explanation............? Whilst snow breaks/tunnels are useful in Nordic countries, the position of the EJ banners might have potential to dump snow on 14/32 whereas the railings let snow and wind blow straight through.

Back to my Lego......

It is correct that in the past the airport has been ordered to take down advertising banners on the railings over the road tunnel, and that was when the airport was council owned! Some sort of planning consent is required to do such advertising and to be honest, I have been half expecting them to disappear before too long, since it only seemed a matter of time before grumpy Mr Planning Officer spotted them. There may be another explanation, but somehow I doubt it is anything to do with snow.

Not long now. Bring on the balloons and the "don't risk the M62" carrier bags full of launch goodies.

The Easyjet flights to LBA this Winter will opperate on UK registered aircraft and not the Swiss Easyjet aircraft.

Indeed they will!.

The aircraft will come from Liverpool, except Sunday when it originates in Stansted.

Bearing in mind how often Easyjet just cancel flights rather than operate them with a delay, I am just grateful they are still operating and none have been cancelled! Better late than never!

I presume that is due to snow in Geneva (or somewhere other than LBA)? Surely nothing to do with passenger numbers?

The weather has been very bad on the continent not just LBA but I don't know if that's the reason behind the Easyjet delays and cancellations. Not a good start though in any case.

Tonights easyjet had 56 passengers, out of a possible 156. Jet2's service to geneva had 142 out of a possible 148. Not looking too good!!!

eek!! :shok:

That's not good. I notice an easyjet banner has gone up next to the Flybe Gatwick banner on the approach road to the terminal. To be honest though, easyjet have gone into this half heatedly with the bad timings, very little advertising at this end, probably non at the other end. It all seemed a bit strangely done in the first place.

Was that inbound or outbound, and what passenger load was there in the opposite direction? Surely it is the two together that determine whether there is a real problem or not, and I would have thought that Thursday is probably one of the quiet days anyway, not just from LBA perhaps.

I personally don't think that this Geneva route is the full story with Easyjet and I wouldn't be surprised if it is just a sort of pathfinder route for further operations in the future. We should remember that Jet2 were booking passengers months before Easyjet announced the route, so they are really just picking up the left-overs. At weekends, there is probably plenty of those, but during the week it may be a bit up and down. I noticed that Easyjet are now advertising on radio too, so they seem determined to spend some money promoting the airline at LBA. Would they do that now for a route that only operates until Spring, or is it a prelim for more to come??

Well last sundays easyjet A319 load to Geneva must have been light as well. It took-off on runway 32 but he did'nt back-track from the Detla taxiway to the end off the runway like normally.

Instead he lined up onto runway 32 at the taxiway delta, intersection and took off from there like a rocket. The Airbus A319 aircraft was up in air before the runway underpass tunnel. I've Only ever seen the props do this in recent years from LBA and maybe a BAe 146.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
