Whilst this is great news to help easyJet continue to test the water at LBA, and with good days and times of op, but without meaning to be too negative, it's another safe route that is already served
BCN is chronically underserved from LBA, so it may well be a “safe” route from the airline’s perspective but from the airport management view, its a big market that is poorly served. As indeed was obvious when we discussed route data and market share last month

So if you are looking to get a major airline to commit to your airport its perfect. A large market, poorly served. I’m at a bit of loss to understand why the opposite would be a good idea

Jet2 desperately needed a kick up the bum on this once daily LS231/232 flight as the fares often dont cater for point to point and there's plenty to explore outside Barcelona - I'd have really welcomed Vueling back as that might have helped the inbound profile of our area but this is a shot in the arm for an underserved route - AMS next? Good they haven't gone on Jet2 anchor days of Monday and Friday too!

I personally am shocked BCN has come before AMS/ALC, however not complaining. However i strongly see these appearing soon, Hopefully for S26.

If EZY was to base id like to see SSH/HRG, NBE alongside some Greece & Cyprus to give Jet2 some competition.

If ALC and AMS did come together with the newly announced BCN plus the other current destinations it would actually be quite a healthy non based operation anyway, but yes a base would be far better!

Anyone know if any LBA EasyJet flights have Spanish based cabin crew?

“EasyJet cabin crews based in Spain will go on strike this month to demand higher wages, just as the summer season gets underway.
For three days beginning on June 25, the airline's staff will strike to bring their working conditions and salaries in line with those of their colleagues in other European bases, the Spain's Worker's Union, USO, said on Tuesday.
In its statement, the union said 657 flight attendants who are based in Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca, could be involved in the action”.

I'm surprised we've not got ALC for the winter period - but isn't it a seasonal base anyway?

This is what they did with Birmingham and Southend; build a nice slow presence up before announcing a base. Would imagine once new terminal is fully functional with the new layout and new arrivals process - easyJet will come. New stands too are coming are they not?

Yeah ALC is a seasonal base and I believe the only UK airport to see EJU ops on the route is Southampton which is operated by a W pattern from AMS

easy desperately need some A320Neo's/A321Neo's delivered to allow for the growth and new base at LBA...

I'm also shocked at what feels like the lack of flights to Belfast. What once was a regular / frequent and high LF flight has now become a shadow of its former self. I'd also say I'm shocked because let's face it - easyJet dominate UK-BFS whilst Ryanair dominate UK-DUB.

I was also surprised by BFS reduction for winter, hopefully some increases will come.

SOU I believe are x10 routes with no base we are x6. Hopefully we are front runners though

I was just about to say the same. I still think we’re the front-runner, though on paper SOU have just edged ahead.

Fingers crossed for ALC, AMS, FAO and maybe one more for summer 2026 to put us back on level footing.

A lot could of course also depend on the success of the routes they have so far introduced. As some said yesterday, BCN is probably massively underserved from LBA currently so we may quickly see capacity added. BFS reductions are disappointing but I would like to think overall that demand from LBA will outstrip SOU and with our vastly improved facilities, which are also far superior to SOU, we surely must be the front runner to be the next base

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
