errr seeems like wires have got crossed here.....

are you saying they used 5 aircraft to de-ice the runway??

or that 5 aircraft were in the hold while they de-iced the runway?

i think i know the answer ;)

Are you blonde? Sorry couldn't resist! Ha Ha.

The post was done from my phone so no punctuation etc!!

I am sure there were defo 5 either in the hold or over head, the first one down was a prop I think, or a private plane as it was the lowest and passed directly over where I was before breaking left for vectors!

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Hi

When the KLM69W from Amsterdam operated by Fokker 70, PH-KZL landed at 21:55 he was asked about the runway breaking action conditions by ATC.

The pilot reported the breaking action to be "Medium to Poor" At the time there were also another 4 flights working inbound which were all updated with the latest runway state. Ryanair's Boeing 737-800's EI-EKN from Gdansk (RYR1504) and EI-EBI from Dublin (RYR42AD). Jet2's had Boeing 737-300's G-CELF from Dusseldorf (EXS348) and G-CELB from Belfast Int'l (EXS328).

Hence at 22:00 it was decided by the airfield operations team to de-ice the runway. So the runway was closed for 25 mins and all the above aircraft were put into the overhead LBA hold.

The RYR1504 (EI-EKN) from Gdansk was number 1 in traffic. So he was the first aircraft to be vectored out of the hold and around onto the ILS for a 32 approach. On landing the pilot then reported the runway breaking action to ATC as “Good”

Hope that helps.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

yes that helps ta.

is the hold cicuit above lba just an oval track with aircraft at different altitudes?

Yes, a normal oval-shaped hold over the LBA NDB with the aircraft maintaining separation by flying at different altitudes.

Head ups

I understand that Strategic Airlines will be operating to Enontekio (Lapland) from Leeds/Bradford this weekend for Transun Travel using an Airbus A320.

The aircraft is positioning in at 19:40 on Friday night as STU853P from Gatwick.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

The holding pattern over the LBA is in a basic figure of 8. The LBA beacon is at the centre of the figure of 8. The outward leg distance (from the beacon) can be extended if holding for longer periods of time. ps will respond to my arch nemesis white heather in the next few days as i have been watching the red filth get knocked out tonight.

I was under the impression it was a race track shape pattern, and it depends on the entry pattern, so if approaching the LBA from the South, it wuold track overhead the LBA towards the North and then turn left to commence the hold

Well the charts of LBA I have confirm that it is an oval pattern just as in any other standard holding pattern globally at a waypoint, NDB, VOR etc.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I have noticed over the last few days that aircraft are not using taxiway Delta and are back tracking the runway for a 32 departure has anyone else noticed this

STU853 is just leaving the Norwegian coast, so has it to go to Gatwick then back to LBA as STU853P

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Tonight's positioning flight STU853 from London Gatwick is cancelled and will be re-scheduled for either tomorrow evening or Sunday morning as its not due to go out to Enontekio from LBA until 10:30 on Sunday.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

hI

Jet2.com used Boeing 757-200, G-LSAM on today's LS6425/6426 Lapland Charter to/from Enontekio.

The Strategic Airlines, A320, LX-STC will again try to position into Leeds this evening from East Midlands as STU891P at 23:45 and night stop. She will then depart to Enontekio tomorrow morning at 10:30 as STU854.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Just to inform the spotters amongst you French Air Force Falcon 10 Serial No 101 just did a low approach and go around 1450 15/12/2011 then a Pole Hill departure I believe he departed from a local air force base and used this way of entering controlled airspace via one of our sid routes.
Hope this trend continues.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Hi just been looking at plane finder on the iPhone and noticed jet2 737 reg g-celu was just about on final approach when it veered off and circled just south of the airport. I was outside work at the time so it was right overhead I noticed another plane on approach this wasn't on plane finder! The 737 then lined up again behind. Just wondered the reasoning behind it when the jet2 737 was already lined up??

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
