Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Thanks for that !!
I also saw a B733 with a green fin land on runway 14 this morning around 0630 is this one of the old channel express aircraft ?

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

G-CELW. Has a green tail. This is based at Exeter and is cargo only, it is at LBA this weekend for a mini-check hope that helps

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Looks like the based Thomas Cook, Airbus A320, G-KKAZ is not coming back to Leeds tonight from Arrecife-Lanzarote.

Instead its going to Hanover and will re-position back into Leeds tomorrow evening at 20:50 as TCX195F.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Hi all

Jet2 are to operate a a charter flight (LS2133) out of Leeds tomorrow afternoon, Sunday 25/02/12 up to Kiruna in Lapland for Tansun Holidays.

The service will be operated as a load share by the London Gatwick based Boeing 737-300, G-CELK operating LGW-LBA-KRN. she is due in at 14:45 and back out at 15:25.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Boeing 737-800, G-GDFF has just positioned over to its new home at Manchester as EXS031E.

So if you didn't see her operating out of LBA over the past 2 weeks it looks like you've just missed out. But don't worry too much as I understand that the next Boeing 737-800 for Jet2 G-GDFJ (Ex Thomson G-CDZI) will be positioning into LBA from Lasham at the end off this week.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

A real shame it has gone to MAN, it's a lovely aircraft. G-GDFC should also be operating out of LBA in the coming weeks as it passes through for maintenance.

FG will be based at Leeds in a few weeks, I'm sure FH and FI (ex Norwegian and Thomson 737-300's) will also pass through LBA shortly too. FJ and FK (both 737-800's) will pass through too. I think G-LSAN will appear later on towards the start of the summer.

As of this time last year, new airframes:
737-300: FE, FG, FH, FI (total 27)
737-800: FD, FF, FJ, FK (total 5)
757-200: AL, AM, AN (total 13)

There were rumours at work that the RAK contract may be made permanent so this may be why an extra 757 is being added to effectively be the standby 757 at MAN. The standby 757 and 737 will be rotated so that not one particular aircraft will be sat on the ground. There will be regular positioning flights over the comings weeks and months so expect to see lots of 'new' aircraft pass through LBA!

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I thought I read in earlier posts that there was a problem with the 738's operating out of LBA due to certain constraints with UK Reg aircraft. Did I read this wrong or is FF somehow different or will it operate under different conditions?

Confused - please someone clarify for me.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

No there are no problems, it simply means that the 737-800 on the G register cannot be used to its full potential when landing in extreme adverse weather conditions at LBA. Irish registered 737-800s face similar restrictions but have different minimum requirements so it may be on a certain foggy and wet day a British 737-800 may not be able to land but an Irish 737-800 may be at least allowed to attempt to land. Very similar to the 757 and LBA, day to day operations would not be effected, maybe a handful of flights a year in poor weather.

Thanks lbia. I obviously misunderstood the earlier posts. Are you able to explain (in laymans terms if possible) why the British and Irish 738's have different criteria and what that criteria is? If it is too complicated to explain here can you point me in the direction of where to find the answer on the web.

I am also intrigued with your "full potential" comment re landing in extreme adverse weather. Are you able to expand on that?

The other thing confusing me is why should a much more modern aircraft from the same series seems (in landing/take off criteria at least) to have taken a backward step in capability. This is unusual inasmuch as it doesn't seem like progress to me.

PS I was going to tick the Thanks box but couldn't see where to do it. Found it now and "ticked".

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Anyone know what the TCX arrival from Hanover that landed just after 21:00 is. Looked very big judging from the lights, and very quiet too - A330 ?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
