Looks like Eastern Airways are operating a charter into Leeds this afternoon. I now understand that it brought in Leonard Cohen whom is playing the First Direct Leeds Arena this Saturday evening and did a show down in Cardiff Yesterday evening.

EZE9702 DUE 13:50 from Cardiff. It's then due to position out to Aberdeen at 14:20 as EZE703P. Aircraft type is unknown at this time

Birmingham based Cello Aviation BAe 146-200, G-RAJJ is due into Leeds later this evening ETA 23:55 using callsign CLJ2355.

I guess its picking Elton John up after his played his gig at the First Direct Leeds Arena.

Eastern Airways look to be using Embrear 135 G-CGMB which departed Cardiff around 20 mins ago and is working up north inbound to Leeds as EZE9702.

Any idea what this was for? There is some speculation on a Wales aviation site that it might be something to do with Jet2 and CWL after a senior person on that site said he had received information that CWL was in line for significant positive news.

If Jet2 management were doing anything with Cardiff, they certainly would not be wasting money flying down on an Eastern aircraft.

Surely if it had been Jet2 management they would have also been on outbound flight to Cardiff in recent days, but they hasn't.
Also I'm sure they would have used the company hack Piper PA-31-350 Chieftain, G-IFIT or one of the spare back up Leeds based Boeing 737-300 aircraft or failing that even drove down so to keep things quite during talks.

Anyway to put this to bed I understand the Eastern Airways charter this afternoon was in connection with Leonard Cohen who is playing the "First Direct Leeds Arena" this Saturday and played in Cardiff yesterday evening.

Cello Aviation BAe 146-200, G-RAJJ is currently working inbound now to Leeds/Bradford positioning in empty from from Birmingham with flight number CLJ790P, I understand its in to pick up Sir Elton John up who played the opening gig at the "First Direct Leeds Arena" earlier this evening

I don't know if it has been posted before, but according to the LBA interactive route map, Transun are operating a 4 day holiday to South West Ireland on 2nd March 2014. It will operate to/from Kerry County Airport which now appears on the map. I wish they wouldn't have these 'occasional charter' routes shown in the same way as scheduled routes - it gets me all excited thinking we are getting a new route and it turns out to be a one off! Logic would suggest they should be shown in a different colour relating to charter flights only?

Don't Ryanair fly to Kerry from other UK airports, Could it be they know something that hasn't been officially announced as yet?

Well going to answer me own question here and you might be a little surprised with the answer that I'm going to give you, as I was when I heard this!
Anyway I've just found out that we will be having a wide bodied aircraft doing the outbound hajj charters next month instead of the usual Jet2 Boeing 757-200's.
So far there are 3x flights planned to be operated to Jeddah direct from Leeds/Bradford using a Boeing 767-300 of Business Air of Thailand, as follows;

TUE Oct 1st = ETA 04:50 /ETD 06:50
TUE Oct 1st = ETA 21:55 (Night stop)
WED Oct 2nd = ETD 10:05
THU Oct 3rd = ETA 01:00 / ETD 15:55

I understand that the returning flights will operate into Leeds/Bradford from Madinah between 27th-29th October.

Here's the airlines website for info http://www.businessaircenter.com/

Lets hope it does come off and the weather is good enough for it to land!

Jet2 did not put out the contract this year as the Hajj falls earlier this year and would have meant that Jet2 would have to scale back their half term scheduled flights, which would have lost a lot of business.

Great news if this does come off! Does anybody know how many flights Jet2 operated with their 757's?

Jet2 have in the past couple of years operated about 3/4x flights to Jeddah from both Leeds and Manchester along with 1/2x flights from both East Midlands and Birmingham using the Boeing 757 fleet which was static due to Hajj taking place after the school holidays/winter timetable been in operation. I also think Jet2 operated some flights for Birtish Midland from London Heathrow one year as well...

I understand that Thailand based operator Business Air have been given slots at Jeddah Airport to operate for these flights into there Hajj Terminal for the Bradford based tour operator Skyfly Connections whom have in the past hired Jet2.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
