We all know what happened last time a Star Alliance carrier tried to take on easyJet...

As with most things in aviation, only time will tell.

I presume you all know of the new Ryanair route to Poland starting in Oct. Destination has an unpronounceable name.

Lufthansa, BA and Turkish on the horizon too. Just rumours though.

I believe that Bydgoszcz is pronounced “bide-gosh” but I’m not 100% sure.

When you look at where Turkish fly to and are looking at as new routes into Europe, I find it staggering that Bristol isn’t in that list. Passenger numbers and capture area (South Wales and wider southwest) surely make is one of the big untapped markets?

Should have also said that I wouldn’t have guessed Aegean to start up even with 10 guesses!

New Airlines to BRS in 2023

4x new airlines are expecting to start operating to BRS in 2023 (so far)!

Below are the number of weekly departures based on a week in August 2023:

SWISS - 3x weekly to ZRH
(Mo, We, Fr) - E290 (op by Helvetic)

SunExpress - 3x weekly to AYT
(Tu, We, Th) - B738/B38M

Aegean - 2x weekly to ATH
(Mo, Fr) - A20N

Corendon - 2x weekly to AYT
(We, Sa) - B738/B38M

Turkish airlines have listed a series of destinations it is interested in flying to. Sadly Bristol is not one of them. I wonder why?

Someone should drop them a ‘curious’ email as to why..? Surely a big untapped market? Good on Newcastle I guess. They have a good mix of scheduled state carriers..

Looking at the Bristol Airport Initial Slot Coordination report from the ACL website, there are a few new routes (some of which we know about, some of which we don't). The new routes that haven't been announced may never be announced, if the airlines change their mind.

Aegean - 2x weekly to ATH

SWISS
- 3x weekly to ZRH

SunExpress
- 3x weekly to AYT

Corendon
- 2x weekly to AYT

easyJet
- up to 424x weekly departures in S23. New route in S23 - 2x weekly to NBE (although LYS may have been dropped in S23)

Jet2 - up to 97x weekly departures in S23. AGP and CHQ new destinations in S23, drops LEI, ADB and MJT

Ryanair - up from 131x weekly departures in S22 to 177x in S23. New routes in S23 - BZG, VCE, OPO and MRS, drops MXP

TUI - Similar sized operation to last year ~80x weekly departures, B787 will be based operating 10-11x departures per week. NBE is a new destination in S23, drops BJV

Great summary - beat me to it Severn. Some additional points are that Loganair , Blue Islands and Aurigny have been granted extra slots for next summer plus Emerald airways have applied for more slots ( airport code zzj ).

Article in the Bristol Post today saying that direct flights from Bristol to Tirana are available. Quoted as weekly on a Wednesday with prices just over £80. Have I missed something or is this another case of mistaken reporting

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
