I decided to have a look at the Qatar Dec 19 pax figures.
Assuming I've got my facts right, there were 20 A350-900 rotations and therefore 42 B787-8 rotations. However I believe there was one B787-8 cancelled on a BHX - DOH sector (30-12-19).

From SeatGuru, the aircraft are configured as follows -

A350-900 36 Business 247 Economy = 283 x 20 rotations = 5660 seats

B787-8 22 Business 232 Economy = 254 x 41 rotations (1 cancelled) = 10414 seats

Total seats for Dec19 = 5660 + 10414 = 16074

CAA figures for DOH Dec19 = 12251

(12251 / 16074) x 100 = 76.2 % LF

If all flights had been B787-8 it would have given (12251 / ((254 x 61))) x 100 = 79.1 % LF (with 1 cancellation)

Hopefully the reason for the upgrade to A350-900 was due to business class demand and cargo.

Please feel free to correct any mistakes I've made.

Kevin

Funny time to expand when nobody will be going to China, Hong Kong, Japan etc for a while ?
People will still travel and the demand might be to other countries in their network instead. Also their could be an increase of inbound tourism to brum instead as say people choose to travel elsewhere other than China

Is there any substance behind this sudden rumour?
The only substance is various parties talking on the ramp at BHX ( the people working on or around the qatar operation), like I said a possibility as nothing is confirmed.

If Qatar increase capacity I wonder if they will do it through another flight on certain days or going up to the A350.
Personally, I'd vote for a frequency boost as the ideal option, it has the added benefit of improving connections to some destinations (as has been discussed before)

Definitely would prefer added frequency to improve connectivity say to ten weekly, wasn't the original service started at eight weekly with a double daily on Saturdays?

Hi there all, I read that Quatar Airlines have increased their stake in IAG, so what is all that about, IAG got a cash flow problem or what.. Andyc

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
