Noticed the PIA flights operating slightly strange routings recently

PK701/702.
5th June: Islamabad-MAN-Abu Dhabi-Islamabad
6th June: Islamabad-MAN-Jeddah-Karachi
8th June: Islamabad-MAN-Baghdad-Islamabad
9th June: Islamabad-MAN-Dubai-Lahore

10th June reverts to Islamabad-MAN-Islamabad

PK8709/8710
8th June: Lahore-MAN-Islamabad

Are PIA still doing some repatriation flights?

Unfortunately, those AOG numbers are way off, Scottie. FR24 picks up all manner of light aircraft in and around the Barton circuit and records them as having "landed" at MAN.

I don'tt lknow; I don't think they are. It was bog standard Islamabad-MAN-Islamabad for PK701/702 before and after those strange routings so if they were repatriation flights, you would have thought it be nuances like this consistently and not "randomly" operated.

Titan 757 G-POWH should be operating in from Antigua tomorrow morning. Probably routing through Las Palmas as they was the staging point to Antigua.

Anyone want to confirm they've extended operating hours for scheduled flights? The last NOTAM record we've got listed shows a "closing" time of1500GMT /1600 local

Due tomorrow at 5pm is PK709. Normally the last flight showing on MAN arrivals has been LM027 from Aberdeen and LM525 from Isle of MAN at 1505

China Eastern-adhoc charters on 4th & 19th July with B773. Inbound is freight but outbound appear to be repatriation flights. Times currently are 1400/1605z

Indeed. Apart from DUB, there are 4 other Ryanair arrivals. Could be a bit crowded in T1 at lunchtime if there's a reasonable number of pax in or out with EK and QR as well. T3 isn't open yet is it?

David, with the heads down on UA pulling out, I was reminiscing over the years when AA flew to ORD, JFK, DFW, MIA, and BOS. But not all at the same time unfortunately. You are a man with records and logs. Was there a period when AA had 3 scheduled departures a day from MAN? ORD went double daily for a while which seems the most likely time when there could have been 3 but my memory and records are lacking.

Looking at is, 1993 to 1995 is the prime candidate as there's a bit of a spike in passenger numbers on the Chicago route over and above what the MD11 introduction allowed. So 2 Chicago (AA54/AA120) and 1 JFK (AA92) during June to August of those years.

The years not too sure about are summer 1998 + summer 1999 when we had their Dallas service and Chicago for certain but New York not too sure about, then 2004 to 2006 when we had Chicago, Boston in summer, Miami in winter and maybe New York

Many thanks David. There could have been several periods then with 3 flights a day. Whether all 3 were on the ground at the same time would depend on last arrival vs first departure. And no doubt CO and DL were around as well. Given the situation now with US carriers and only AA - hopefully - intending to resume PHL at some stage, it's fingers crossed that Virgin survive and reestablish their network at MAN.

Trying to cast my mind back AA54 and AA92 were in by 8am. AA55 left around1030am and AA93 around noon. I believe AA120 was in for 1030am and out at 2pm so it may have been possible in the right circumstances for all 3 to be seen on the ground.

In other news, I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle on another site regarding UA and AA in a UA fleet and network thread. Wouid you consider 4 years of AA doing MAN-JFK something that could be described as route given up "very quickly". For me. that phrase means a max 18 months to 2 years. Thankfully I do have the TAS magazine which featured the Euro 1996 charters but also contained a 1995 breakdown of statistics. Got a feeling Scottie will be along in the next few days to lift these posts and put them an an Ancient History thread.

Losing battle, lost. The American carriers have not built a regional network and continued with the crazy overcapacity of the LHR TATL routes and expansion of DUB. This, compared to the MEB3 expansion, is clearly 'narrowed' thinking regarding route development. At some point I wonder if we'll see the MEB3 get some sort of fifth freedom rights and show the 'old school' carriers how it's done.

I think the American airlines realise that things are not going to get better in US for a while virus wise and a very unstable country politics and race wise

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
