Mr. Dempsey Sir, Do you know if that was a high density A380? If it was, it appears to be quite comfortable assuming it was the upper deck as the window wall slope suggests!

The pictures show the immensity of the aircraft in true passenger perspective.

Air France operated A380 on short hops from CDG to LHR when they took delivery in the early days.

Here is a suggestion for all of you, would it be possible to persuade BA, Emirates or even Qatar ( for marketing reasons ) to consider a similar program of pleasure but commercially viable flights to win over friends and potential passenger income from BHX if A380 were to be deployed?

I am sorry Mr. Head Moderator for subject drift but this just came to mind and are a decent chap!!

Those were for work up time for crew.

What benefit would BA (IAG brand)gain by dropping in a 380 into Birmingham an airport they don't and likely won't return to anytime soon.

EK have only used a three class once so far and that is the front upper desk economy zone.
On three class that would be First with business behind !

Emirates have operated a few 3 class A380's over recent weeks. The wildlife liveried one has visited twice aswell as the FA Cup liveried aircraft, both are 3 class. There have been a couple of others but I'd have to look up the reg numbers.

Thank you for the replies but I was thinking back to the Concorde experience flights of which I had the privilege to enjoy once from BHX to CDG.

A similar arrangement surely not beyond an enterprising airline and airport to figure out and benefits to materialize for all.

Concorde had gone, A380 is the new crowd pleaser and innumerable people would love a ride to say e.g. Frankfurt, Paris, Dubai for a daytrip flying back on a Ryanair or other outfit that would collaborate again for future benefits. These are current airlines using A380 and A320 types within European airspace.

I am simply playing with an idea that at least I myself would consider to be worth a tidy chunk of my limited income

You would need to persuade someone like Ian Alan Travel or BAES to organise, charter and sell suitable flights subject aircraft being available and at competitive rates.
Its possible however selling 400+ seats and the 380 charter rates might make it a bit prohibitive !

Another suggestion to perhaps offer Emirates. Convert one of the other of the three flights into one off A380 simply to allow pleasure experience seats at say 50% of normal fare to include B777 return flight next day or same day dependant upon local accommodation facilities for such an expedition?

As a One Off flight, the otherwise empty seats would be occupied, the Emirates Experience and the A380 added together would in time generate future traffic.

If successful, further A380 services could replace B777 on the route and encourage Qatar and perhaps Etihad to consider BHX as a good economic prospect!

Its been a while Ray since you last posted some pics. Do you not get much chance anymore going over to the airport, i used to love seeing your photo's. I remember last summer it was nearly every day that you would post a photo or two.

Fantastic pictures, thanks for posting them (y)

It's a combination of having a very busy few months and the weather being so lousy. If the weather holds up I'll make an effort to get down a little more.

I do have a couple of pictures that I forgot to upload, I'll add them in a bit :)

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
