I have to point out that it's not my picture, full credit must go to a gentleman called Anthony Williams (it's why I only included a link rather than posting the actual photo). As much as I'd have loved to have taken my own shot I was stuck at work :(

The data shows that it was taken at 12:22 on 09/08/16 :)

Could this not convince those needing convincing that BHX is as good an airport as any within the Kingdom, and that operating services can be beneficial. Equally, political minds need to see such images together with reports from Airport management.

Had a very quick pit stop on my way home this evening.

Hello to everyone,

Some stunning pictures in this thread, we have some talented photographers in our midst.

I live literally just up the road from BHX and yet I rarely venture out to watch the planes or take a few shots, I really should make more effort! Plus some of the wonderful photos in this thread have really inspired me to visit more often, so many thanks for that. My interests lie mainly with military aviation, but with a busy airport on my doorstep I would be a fool not to take advantage.

I've got a few old snaps of various BHX air traffic to share, looking forward to adding more.

Cheers everyone.

These first few are scanned film shots from around 1987, if I remember correctly;

Thanks for looking.

Great pictures snagsanger,full of nostalgia.
There were some comments recently regarding BAC1-11s.The engine start up on them machines was something you could hear miles away. Very distinctive.
G-BIHO the Twin Otter is still active. It is plying its trade with Isle of Scilly Skybus, and can be seen at Plymouth or Newquay occasionally.

Thanks guys for commenting, that means a lot to me.

Brummiegem, those 1-11's used to scare the bejesus out of me as a kid. My junior school was probably 2 miles or less as the crow flies from the old Elmdon, the teacher had to stop lessons when they were running an engine at full power after maintenance, it was too loud for her to be heard.

Wolfheze, they were still ear splitting even after being modified. Smokey too if memory serves me. Is that an old school CB750 in your avatar? My favourite bike of all time, still turns heads today.

Love the old snaps. Those were the days...quiet anticipation of great times to come. I remember the day the new terminal opened. So impressive with the atrium and what are those things sticking out the side? Air bridges! In so many ways I miss that. For all the success, it was our little local airport then. Now a big international gateway. I wish I still had my old snaps from the 70's. Love to be able to share them.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
