Stansted likely to be CAT1 for a week or so, due to a Gulf 5 taking out some ILS equipment. However BHX was just lucky this morning, as it too is CAT1 but had no fog.

Ray Finkle said:When I woke up this morning and saw the fog I expected a few to be diverting away from BHX but it seems everything got in OK. BA B744 G-CIVL and B772 AP-BGK have both departed back to Heathrow, B763 G-BNWZ is currently parked on remote stand 25, there's not much activity around it so it could be in for the night.
With Fly Dubai arriving this morning, SAS sending an A321 and an A320, more Lufthansa A321's and the above diverts it will have been a good day for the local spotters.
We had a few diverts in from Bristol today, a couple of Easyjet, a Ryanair and an Aer Lingus Regional I think. Also UAE9 A6-ECR diverted in from Gatwick around 19:20.
easyJet from Belfast Int and Ryanair from Alicante for BRS just been diverted to BHX.It was two easyJets and one Ryanair, but there were two Aer Lingus Regionals diverted from BRS (one from DUB the other from ORK). Two easyJets also went to CWL and one to STN from BRS.
The heavy rain and gales are now back around Bristol - having had a lull since mid afternoon - and there are still 10 easyJets due in this evening at BRS with the one from Madrid currently holding overhead. Also a Ryanair and a Thomson yet to land this evening. So BHX (and CWL) might get some more diversions this evening if conditions don't improve.
Must be problems at CWL because that's the first alternate for easyJets into BRS normally. Ryanair though always go to BHX if diverted at BRS.Watching FR24 and a Ryanair ALC-BRS is on finals to BHX with an Easyjet A320 from BFS to BRS behind it. Another Easyjet A320 from MAD-BRS is also heading north currently over west Birmingham and the Easyjet from SXF is now heading up.
Thomson seems to be holding at the moment.
Thomson looks like it's going to Cardiff. The Easyjets from CDG and AMS look to be holding?
It's wet and windy here but must be horrendous down there.
Easyjet from AMS is just behind it also a Thomas Cook 757, G-TCBC, diverted up from Gatwick. The BA 763 is from ARN.
