Finally found a picture in the 2017 LBA Masterplan as to where the new stands are planned to be built.

New stands shown shaded in blue

Now question is, Seen as the lay within the existing airfield boundary and within the operational area's will the need planning approval or not?
Do you have a copy of the previous masterplan you could upload?

Probably also says a lot about what we can (or can’t) expect route development wise as it probably means A321 sized aircraft are the biggest we can now expect. Unless we have, or are going to have, other stands capable of large aircraft parking?
Not much chance of a wide body any time soon, but maybe the first new stands to be built will be big enough - and able to accommodate wide body without disrupting the main apron.

It would make more sense to use the stands 9-11 area for wide bodied aircraft given the proximity to the terminal. Stand 8 has had 767 sized aircraft use it before although not ideal as the wing tips can overhang the interstand clearway. This can easily be overcome, by using the mixed mode method of left, right and centre configuration.

When you run out of parking stands and you have to park aircraft in both the 14/32 Loop and November Taxiway.

Not for too long this time. The Ryanair was waiting in the loop for the other Ryanair to push back. Better staying in the loop 10 minutes out of the way rather than clogging up a full apron area. The Jet2 behind it was only in the loop a couple of minutes.
Six Ryanair's on the ground together this afternoon. Impressive action to watch on TV via Blue Sky Aviation.

Frankly, I consider it quite embarrassing. You could argue that LBA has become a victim of it's own success, but in my humble opinion, it smacks of LBA not being anywhere near proactive enough. Additional stands have been needed for several years now.
Actually, stands were empty at the time, but all up the Eastern end, where Ryanair dont want to go. So it waited for the other Ryanair to vacate and went in that stand to replace it. The Jet2 ended up behind it after running to the end after landing. Several other aircraft were pushing back too, from memory so it was all a bit busy. Compared to many airports the overall delay was minimal, but the sooner they build some more stands the sooner these bottlenecks will ease up.

It's better being in this situation than the situation DSA faced before it closed. At leased measures are been taken to address congestion.

Don’t get me wrong I know 2x new stands will be built this winter. I honestly just feel they haven’t learnt from last summers problems and these new stands should have been given priority and built last winter.
Looking at the departure boards it’s has caused quite a few delayed departures this afternoon and it’s only getting busier, so it could get even worse before we get to peak summer 24 season.

Arguably the airport planned ahead and the new terminal should have been in place by now but here we are today, three years on and only just getting started with improvements. Still, it wasn't the airport's fault as it was matters beyond their control. Fingers crossed the new facilties will show a marked improvement.

I would say that between 3pm and 4pm they were 12 aircraft parked along that part of the apron. When an aircraft departed, another one took it's place. To put it in context, it is usually only Saturday afternoon when it happens and other stands were available so I can see the airport's thinking.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
