The runway extension is 40 years old today.
Quite incredible the short length of runway available to aircraft before the runway was extended, although as we know landing distance still remains similar today esp R32 due to the positioning of the TDZ further down the runway.
I bet it was quite a sight stood on harrogate road watching aircraft esp the jets depart R32 just becoming airbourne in time!

More fun standing on Victoria Avenue directly behind a 1-11 or 737 departing off 14.

Whilst viewing a regular live Video stream from LBA on Saturday it was noticeable that several stands are cordoned off outside the terminal and they are full of diggers, lorries and other equipment,.suggesting the imminent start of more overnight runway repairs, it the creation of the two new stands, or both.

I’m guessing some of it is for the new GPU Ground power support units been installed from Stand 7 up to 14 if I remember correctly.

They overnight runway closures don’t commence until November 11th

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
