About to fly direct overhead LBA(1340) at 35000' is
Kuwait Air Force C-17B Globemaster KAF343(Kuwait Air Force 3201) out of Kuwait City heading Northwest

Must have new fandangle engines. Don't remember the Tri-saurus sounding like that when I was a lad.
The l10-11 tristars used to make this amazing deep sound almost like a boy racer exhaust on taxi but obviously louder. Of the aircraft flying today my fav sounding aircraft are the b757, b767 with the rattly whinning sound and love the b747s still. Airbus aircraft are quite distinct too

Sunday afternoons were great as a kid. Balkan, Aviogenex, Spantax, JAT, Iberia, Danair, BMA - I remember the smell, smoke and noise more than anything!
Think it was a sat or sunday eve all the above you mentioned departed in the space of a couple of hrs, was only a little one at the time but can still remember it well. Also add adria to the list.

The Air Afrique aircraft were actually JAT - YU-AKK and AKL. They were returned from lease to Air Afrique in early 1986 and re-entered service with JAT before being resprayed in the JAT livery. I flew on AKK from Ljubljana to Leeds Bradford 35 years ago this month.
You were fortunate, because the Ljubljana route was normally operated by JAT DC9 32s.

It was a double drop on Monday WH. Dubrovnik to Ljubljana to Leeds Bradford then back again. That was 1986 but it was a JAT DC9 on Ljubljana-only in 1985 and 1989.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
