Let's be honest, Stobart, Flybe and Eastern already at LBA with one of them having a base. Hoping is one thing, reality being another. So we shall just wait and see...........

It is now being reported elsewhere that Ryanair and Aer Lingus are entering into a bigger code-share agreement which would see Ryanair used as connecting services for the across the pond stuff. If that is the case, could this seeh Ryanair effectively doing the Aer Lingus Dublin service at the expense of Stobart Air? Could this then reduce any chance of Stobart having any serious long-term-interest in LBA? Thoughts guys and gals.

Very interesting potential development. Two things here though. Firstly there is far more than just LBA in the equation when it come to EI DUB connex with Stobart. Secondly if it happened, actually having an LBA based aircraft for the early DUB connection would improve that. Dont want to harp back on about the benefits a BA night stopper would provide. I would be more concerned if I were DSA management about any Stobart BE/T3 deal than if I were at LBA. But as we keep saying, nothing in this industry we all love should ever surprise us. Maybe its our bias for LBA, maybe its pure hope and optimism. Looks like something is afoot though

If Ryanair did it instead of Stobart Air, we would already have our 'night stopper' as it would be the usual first flight out with a based airframe. I would however imagine that we would need a later morning return back to catch the red-eye punters, so they may have to add another rotation. There would also be the additional benefit of having a greater number of potential transfers at DUB with 189 compared to 70 odd on a rubber band.

I would still however live to see Stobart/FlyBe base a couple of aircraft to do more high profile routes such as CDG, FRA, CPH, ZRH etc.

Whatever happens, I hope that we continue as we are with both Ryanair and Stobart/Aer Lingus on the Dublin route. I would be very disappointed to see the EI colours disappear from LBA again, especially when they have done so well on the route. They tend to have their own band of followers too, so for me, any reduction down to just Ryanair, even if they add another rotation, is a retrograde step.

With this EI FR tie up there is a 3rd party involved providing the flight packages so I doubt either will be taking over routes from each other.

Find this hard to believe. Wille Walsh and MOL seem to be at pistol drawn situation over non e.u. ownership of European airlines. MOL seems to be aggrieved Ryanair has had to issue "Forced disinvesting instructions to British shareholders" I have received mine, yet Walsh seems to implie IAG not covered by these ownership rules.
A recent research note I received on Ryanair, mentions this aspect of concern to the u.k. CAA, in addition to recent pilot rosta problems and possible failure to pay cabin crew for hours worked, there was a fourth problem but I cant find the research note now I need.
Ryanair need to find at least £2Billion of capital in the next 12 months.
MOL feels Walsh is behind the airing of these issues, so strange they are to do business together.

On BE's website, it shows the last flight from LBA to DUS departs on the 18th March. If I remember rightly this was supposed to fly all summer was it not? Does this mean its been dropped?

I have a booking for 19 July and it looks like they are changing the times slightly - now showing as a 2 hour 05 flight arriving LBA 14.25 and its also taken the booked seats away so something is happening on this and also as you rightly say the flight is not showing as available.

Hope Flybe are not up to their usual dirty tricks! As I see the Leeds - Belfast City route has had its 4th daily rotation removed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday this summer too. Or have the airport's new owners increased fees and charges hence the reason we are seeing Flybe reduce there schedule not so long after British Airways did the same and Loganair pulled out!

I hope not, but it dosent look good especially after the loss of Monarch and reduced Ryanair programme this summer.
It looks like Ryanair have axed the Montpellier service while the extra peak summer flights to Palma, Ibiza, Faro & Lanzarote (in July & August) have still not been put on sale.

I have just been on the Flybe website to do a flight search and found flights in May and late June direct from LBA to DUS without any problem. The details showed Dash 8 Q400 with an outbound flight time of 1 hr 40 mins and inbound to LBA, 1hr 50 minutes. Am I missing something??

I just had quick look and this is the low fare calendar below and these are the times its currently showing!

Having found flights on the flight finder for May, June and July, I then tried to book one. A message came up saying that due to a Technical Error on the part of the airline, the flights could not be priced. I have written to LBA management to ask if they know what is going on with this flight. I find it very hard to believe that they are pulling the route so quickly when it is supposed to have been doing well. However, absolutely nothing surprises me with the airline industry and even less when it comes to Flybe.

Could that sort of flight time they're quoting on my flight be a based Eastern Saab? I'm sensing at least an equipment change as the pre booked seat numbers have disappeared and hoping thats all it is!

I've just check the GDS and the Flybe's Leeds-Dusseldorf flights are still showing on there even though the not bookable on flybe own website.

Could it possibly mean that a Belfast aircraft operated the service, similar to how it does on the newquay flight on certain days? I hope it's not going to eastern equipment as if that's the case you might aswell just cancel the service now and have done with it. Haven't been most reliable as of late.

I don't think this is looking too good for our DUS service. Wonder if there is any Stobart influence in this decision to close the DUS base? Will try and do some digging at work tomorrow

Stobart don't own Flybe so i can't see them influencing Flybe and has the DUS base been closed? I know it's not an aircraft one just a crew one.
