A little bit of info on the new departure lounge Starbucks.

Chocolatey Wafflecone Coffee Frappuccino blended beverage. I'm sure that will appeal to some (Mrs F immediately springs to mind) but personally I can't think of anything much worse. Give me a good old fashioned cup of tea....... or possibly a pint of Abbott Ale 🍺

A very lengthy article about the new WHSmith store, from the pictures it looks very nice (y)

Looking forward to this

*Watch out for a follow-up story on Birmingham Airport’s ambitious infrastructure plans and expansion of food & beverage airside, coming shortly.

As long as it pays for the repairs to the broken escalator ;-)

I can’t open link but if this is airport car park - to me it seey a Very strange site it’s really in middle of nowhere… very little passing trade without a detour as such
I've amended the link to show the application etc. It's location is at the top of carpark 6 (staff carpark) next to bird island, so it will primarily be passing trade..

Chaiiwala opening at the end of the month.

The UK’s leading Indian street food café is opening an outlet at Birmingham Airport. The new store will be located in the departures area at Birmingham Airport and is set to open at the end of October.
Muhummed Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer at Chaiiwala, said the brand was targeting a presence in all major UK airports by 2025.

“We truly believe Chaiiwala at Birmingham Airport is long overdue and cannot wait to serve passengers and staff and become part of the wider food offering available,” he said. “Birmingham Airport is a premier destination that our customers have wanted for a number of years and we are delighted to finally make that happen.

“Chaiiwala provides a great food alternative option to current food offerings available for passengers as they head through to the next part of their journey. “We are very confident that this will be a success in Birmingham. We want to be in every major airport and travel hub not just in the UK but globally attracting a wide range of customers. “The feedback so far has been phenomenal and we feel Chaiiwala is slowly becoming a must-have food concession due to the variety of our offering and the demand from customers.”

The 1,100 sq ft Chaiiwala concession has been developed as a bespoke kiosk. Customers will be able to use the low-level seating while having clear visibility across the departures areas to flight information boards and boarding gates. Chaiiwala will also operate a click and collect service via its app for customers on the go who want ‘chaii on the fly’.

The new airport store will be managed by EG On The Move who currently operate a number of Chaiiwala stores in the UK including two Drive Thrus in Bolton and Blackburn.

“We are excited to partner again with EG On The Move who are a great operator and share the vision and values of our brand,” added Mr Ibrahim.

Richard Gill, Commercial Director of Birmingham Airport said: “We welcome both Chaiiwala and EG On The Move to Birmingham Airport as a partner. Chaiiwala’s concept will complement our existing catering offering with its innovative and unique menu that offers convenient Indian street food within the departure lounge.

“Chaiiwala will appeal to all our customers with the menu being vegetarian and halal friendly and the option of a click and collect service, perfect for taking for an onward journey.”

The new Chaiiwala outlet will create 20 jobs and will operate approximately 16 hours a day between 0400 and 2200 hours, catering for early-morning flyers and late-night travellers alike for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The store will feature the full Chaiiwala menu, known for its tasty and authentic dishes, along with additional treats and snack options.

Established in 2015 in Leicester, Chaiiwala has gained a cult following with its fusion of authentic Indian street food with a Western twist. The menu showcases breakfast, lunch, dessert and all-day items with signature products such as Karak Chaii, Caramel Chaii, English-Ish Breakfast, Masala Chips and Karachi Bun Kebab Burger.

I noticed that the Factory Bar had hoardings around it with 'Exciting New Concept' and 'Birmingham New Bar + Kitchen' coming soon.

I believe Chaiiwalla also opened yesterday.

Peaky Blinders themed bar and restaurant now open.

From the article linked below, which is unfortunately behind a pay wall so I can't read it all.

"We are hoping to announce within a matter of weeks another UK travel first on a food and beverage brand - a really exciting category that is not in the airport at the moment.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
