That's really good news for South Wales, Caerdav are becoming well known in the MRO field with contracts with Easyjet and TUI as well.

Wales Business Live, are reporting that CaerDav are creating a further 100 jobs at their MRO facility in St Athan, they are reported to have a large order book of work.

It’s great to see the BOAC 747 preserved. If it was moved to a museum I would definitely be interested in visiting!

I believe that they hope to eventually put it into a public area so people can view it.

I've just noticed there's a 'new' apron and hangar at St. Athan - Apron K1 - that has been built over the former taxiway J. Is this an expansion of Caerdav's operation?

I don't know, there was supposed to be a paint shop being setup at St Athan. Could be for that?
I only just saw this! There’s an online 747 preservation advocacy group and the members are understandably outraged by this. I haven’t been able to find an explanation for it.

The Negus 747 is still intact at Kemble and there are apparently tours of it … but for how long?
Yep it's sad news that it was scrapped.

I think I'm able to answer my own question (above, posted Dec 12 2023) - the new hanger on K1 is an expansion of Caerdav's operation. There was a Ryanair departure today from Caerdav and FR24 showed the aircraft originating from alongside this location. Caerdav's website also has a new picture - the second one down on this page that clearly isn't Twin Peaks and looks very new, so I guess it can only be K1.

Good news to see Caerdav doing well. I wonder what happened to the proposed painting hangar at St Athan?

Just seen a post on Caerdav facebook page saying that they just recieved their 14th Ryanair 737 of the winter and had 5 more still to come to them for maintenance. Hopefully they'll see more next year!

Aston Martin have also announced today, a recruitment drive for 400 jobs, for their two plants in St Athan, and Warwickshire. I just wish they would export their cars via CWL.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
