Berlin that should make a fair few here happy. Didn't FR once serve Berlin either TXL or the other one. Part of the old Berlin Airport still exists. I believe Easyjet Europe have base at Berlin so It was probably going to be served by Easyjet from BHX to link Say BHX to Marrekesh or Vienna or Milan

Berlin has never been served by Ryanair, believe it's only been operated from BHX By British Airways, Maersk Air/Duo, Lufthansa, Germanwings, and then Flybe

Such amazing news about the new routes that have been announced. 28 routes next year with easyJet is amazing, and great timing to launch the base with the new security area opening in June 2024.

The Berlin & Barcelona timings are great for a short weekend away.. can’t wait to use them! Fingers crossed they do the same for Madrid as the timings on Ryanair aren’t great!
I completely agree, I’m really impressed with the attention to detail given to the timings - something often overlooked by LCCs. The strategy to have a relatively high number of destinations with low frequencies seems well thought out, and will hopefully prove well for easyJet at BHX.

It seems to have aligned perfectly with their focus on easyJet Holidays, particularly since TUI & Jet2 have been very successful at BHX with a similar model.

Combining this with EasyJet’s point of differentiation including LCC model, high frequencies on city & business routes & a huge network of potential destinations, I’m very excited to see what the future holds. Now to support the new routes..!

PS couldn’t agree more re Madrid timings with FR - in 2016 I remember we had 10x flights per week to MAD and we’re down to 3x with poor timings. After having a 6-7hr delay MAD-BHX on Wednesday (where we were kept on the plane with no info, no food and no water) I’m in no rush to use FR anytime soon. Perhaps not a likely route for easyJet considering their small presence at MAD, but I’m hoping Iberia will return one day… I can dream!

Back to EZY… I hope Athens and Rome will be viable in the coming seasons. Good luck easyJet! 🧡

Think they
Article from Simple Flying about the new base. There's no new information but it does give a breakdown of how the aircraft will be used, highlighting the gaps which may see more new routes or bring some of the existing ones to based units.

Looks like they nicked my information on aircraft usage which I have now updated, this includes the based units doing some CDG, PMI & FAO. Not many gaps now !

I noticed immediately that Ian suggested that Simple Flying "nicked" his work, as such and if uncredited, a clear breach of copyright has occured and a civil tort is actionable should Ian desire of it. The question then would be To whom does the copyright belong? Ian or F4A? Either party must then prove ownership of the data at the time of extraction. Something to ponder upon me thinks! WITH MY APOLOGIES FOR ANY INTRUSION.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
