Hello SNOWMAN 1 If that is the case it would mean no overall growth.
Hope you are wrong and we maybe we get a second Thomson aircraft as well.

hi 300boy
we could always hope that Thomas cook are returning to a full programme out of lba
and will use monarch, as they do now with the bits they put through LBA.

I can't see that there is enogh market to warrant a further A320 based at LBA unless they are going to introduce a lot of brand new routes.
More likely they will operate the Thomson flights, it must make commercial sense to have a 3 aircraft base instead of 3 single aircraft base - as long as they do not fall out.

I doubt they will be flying for Thomson as their flights are already on sale for 2015?
Also I returned from Rhodes Sat 26th July with Thomson and the outbound flight was completely full and the return flight only had a handful of seats left so I would think Thomson are happy with their LBA operations.

Monarch could easily add a 3rd based a/c for summer 15. Increase the frequency on the most popular routes and start a few new destinations. Now whether the airfield has space is another matter!!

I really hope if they do base a 3rd a/c it's not at the expense of the Thomson base...

Just a reminder that LBA Ops Director has said that if the demand is there from based operators for more parking stands, they will be provided quickly and LBA will not be turning down business due to the lack of them. Up until now, that demand has not been evident and (contrary to what some might say) no based airline has approached LBA with a request to base more aircraft leading to a shortage of stands. That same Ops Director also stated that after a year of consolidation (some might say stagnation given the expansion now underway at some other airports), there would be further growth next year, so hopefully the Monarch rumour is correct and they are not replacing TOM flights - since that would gain us nothing in terms of pax numbers (unless the 3rd based a/c was bigger than an A320.

I know what they keep reminding us white heather but seriously when was the last time you were at LBA between 2am and 6am during the summer? I am at a total loss as to how the airport constantly lie to you regarding airfield parking.

There are already more a/c based than parking stands available! Most nights during the summer months there are between 2-4 a/c parked on taxiway alpha behind stands 17 & 18, on taxiway November at N4 and behind parking stand 20...

Building parking stands isn't quick either. Does anybody remember when stands 19 to 24 were built and how long it took? It certainly wasn't quick...

I appreciate that your only the messenger but honestly something dosnt sit right with me!

Next years TOM flights are already on sale with a TOM flight code, so this indicates that it will be a TOM aircraft, however can the terminal handle another 180+ pax during the busy periods? as I passed through the other day and there was people sat all over the floor, not good if I'm honest.

However, as we all know - things can so easily and quickly change. Hopefully Monarch will base a 3rd AC and it will not be related to the TOM flights.

If Monarch indicate to LBA management that a 3rd based aircraft will be used from April 2015 onwards this gives plenty of time to construct extra parking spaces.

Humm looks like Monarch now have summer 2015 flights are now on sale for Manchester, Gatwick, Luton and Birmingham. Just leaveing East Midlands and Leeds/Bradford bases still not on sale yet.

As things currently stands it looking like both Birmingham and Manchester maybe be both losing a based aircraft, hopefully with aircraft been moved around could it might mean they have expansion plans for there 2 newer bases.

See Monarch placed an order for new aircraft at the recent Farnborough show, but subject to the controlling Mantegazza family finding a source of new funding for Monarch.
Seems like they have decided without a new partner they can no longer strife to take on easyjet and Ryanair and are unwilling to pump increased funds in to the airline to acheive this aim. If they cannot locate a new partner a sale in the offing, interesting days.

I think a floatation the last thing on the families mind. They believe the airline to small to have the critical mass to take on their rivals, if they think this is the situation no chance of the city becoming involved as the float would flop.
At farnborough they placed an order for 30 Boeing 737 max for £1.75 billion, with an option for 15 additional aircraft.
However, order subject to outside finance as the family only put £120 million in to Monarch in the last 5 years, they cannot finance this expenditure on their own
I see them disposing of the airline and concentrating on their tour companies which has always been the backbone of their group. They dont wont to be a small bit player.

hi all
there seams to be a few rumours floating about that Doncaster could be a new base for monarch, any body any ideas (L.B.A.spotters) as I say only a rumour.

I would be surprised about Doncaster. At Farnborough they were talking about taking on Easyjet and Ryanair head to head in bases where these companies were well established.
They dont see a future for Monarch in its present guise and want to become a leading LCC, getting away from dependence on tour companies, this is why I wonder if they want to get out of the airline business as the bulk of the group is in travel/tour companies, the two aims dont go together.
I cant see anyone wanting to be a minority shareholder in Monarch, the group is adamant without one they will not put further money in Monarch.
The city seems to feel they will flog of the very profitable aircraft maintenance business and try to merge Monarch with some other airline and concentrate on their tour business and wave the airline goodbye.
The order with Boeing is subject to cancellation if new capital not raised in 6 months.

I've just noticed that several people have inquired by posting direct messages on Monarch's Facebook page about when will they be releasing there Leeds/Bradford and East Midlands summer 2015 flights. It seems that Monarch are now replying to most people with the following message.

Poster:Hi, do you know when you will be releasing flights from Leeds or East Midlands for May 2015 yet?

Monarch Hi, we are currently conducting a review of our schedule for Summer 15. We have released 4 bases where the review has been complete however the review is on-going for Leeds Bradford and East Midlands. The schedule for summer 15 will offer our customers a better service with; more frequent flights to some of our most popular destinations, better weekend flight times & flexibility to book a short break or a mid or longer length holiday. We completely understand you’d like to book your holiday, please visit www.Monarch.co.uk for our available routes.

Poster: Thanks for getting back to me.
Do you know when this review might be complete and flights will be ready to be announced? Even just a really rough idea would be helpful.

Monarch Hi, the review will be completed in the autumn. As soon as I know anymore I'll let you know.

ENDS

So looking at it from an outside perspective to me it would seem that the airline's Leeds and East Mids bases are under going a review at the moment regarding the summer 2015 schedules, and not as the rumours suggest elsewhere on a certain dried fruit forum "SNOWMAN 1"

I hope this does not mean the end or a contraction of Monarch ops at Lbia. We were only told that we may have a third based unit a short time ago. It seems odd to take until the autumn to review the operation and risk losing lots of bookings. Fingers crossed for good news !!!!!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
