Surely they would have to announce it in the next few weeks if they are to start at the beginning of the winter schedule.
I think that BA went public to "tighten the screws" on the LBA directors to get a good deal.

Press have been formally notified of a press conference and major airline announcement at LBA. Weds 27th June. 9.45am

No details about which airline, but putting 2 and 2 together.....

British Airways is today expected to announce a new route linking Leeds Bradford Airport with Heathrow in a major boost for Yorkshire’s economy.

The worst-kept secret in UK aviation is set to be made public this morning as BA confirms that it will be returning to the newly refurbished airport after many years away.

A BA spokeswoman admitted to the Yorkshire Post: “We are making a welcome return to Yorkshire.”

Not only will the new service make it easier for business people to connect to the capital, it will also give them the opportunity to make onward connections to the major cities of the world. This could prove crucial as Yorkshire business leaders work to increase international trade.

The route was made possible following BA’s acquisition of BMI in April.

Speaking in May, BA chief executive Willie Walsh said: “As a result, British Airways is able to manage its wider Heathrow slot portfolio more effectively.

“Airports across the UK and beyond have contacted us about starting services and, subject to reaching satisfactory agreement with them, we plan to also launch flights from Heathrow to Leeds Bradford, Rotterdam and Zagreb and increase frequencies to existing

Having secured Flying Blue Gold for another year, I may well give the LHR route a go when it's up and running.

Not really a surprise but excellent news for LBA. It just proves that you have the right people at the top there.

British Airways is to start four-times-a-day flights from Leeds Bradford Airport to Heathrow.

The daily service will give business and leisure customers the opportunity to connect with British Airways' extensive global network from Heathrow.

They will be able to check in their bags and receive boarding cards for their entire journey at Leeds Bradford.

Announcing the news today (June 27) Andy Lord, British Airways director of operations, said: “This is a welcome return to Yorkshire for British Airways and we are very excited about flying from this excellent, commercially important airport once again.

“bmi’s integration into British Airways is enabling us to grow our network as we promised, giving customers more flights to destinations we know they want to fly to. Leeds Bradford has a significant catchment area and we are delighted to offer not only direct flights to London but a well timed schedule that will allow customers from this region to connect with our extensive short haul and long haul flights from Heathrow.”

All inclusive one way fares from Leeds-Bradford to Heathrow are available from £42, including include generous 23kg luggage allowance, free online check-in and seat selection 24 hours before departure and complimentary food and drink on board.

I expected it to be 3-flights a day. One of the BA announcements does say up to 4 tho, but we won't know until the timetables are out.

4 a day is the same as KLM, but with A319 rather than F70 BA will have more seats.

Flights will now be 4 daily.

There are 5 'mirror' flights at MAN (where the bmi flight was within 30 minutes of the BA flight), so it has been decided to take all 5 flights out of MAN.

4 will go to LBA, 1 will be used for the Rotterdam flight.

Schedules will be similar to what I have already published, with the 4th daily to be added (Im not sure which of the remaining 2 mirror flights will be for LBA)

As I wrote many months ago, only BA can make this route work.
It's mostly about onward connections and Oneworld card holders.
4 flights a day, brilliant.

Schedule loaded:

BA1340 LHR 0700 LBA 0800
BA1341 LBA 0925 LHR 1025

BA1346 LHR 1120 LBA 1220
BA1347 LBA 1515 LHR 1615

BA1342 LHR 1350 LBA 1450
BA1343 LBA 1605 LHR 1705

BA1344 LHR 1850 LBA 1950
BA1345 LBA 2050 LHR 2150

All flights using the A319. Night stopper not used so could be added at a later date.

When you make a booking on the BA website, LBA is called 'Leeds Bradford International' - talk about making LBA sound like a global international hub...!!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
