Does anyone know if BA have agreed to using the Premier lounge at LBA for exec card holders or those flying on premium tickets?

BA will of course use the lounge and this is what their customers expect. They may also wish to request an exclusive BA section in the same way KLM have done.

I was on the last BA Viscount into LBA and am seriously considering making the trip up on the first flight on the 9th Dec.

£116 return doesn't sound too bad ;)

Welcome to the forum Steve and well done - one contribution already towards making the route a success. I hope you enjoy your flights.

My turn now, after attending today's LBA Consultative Committee meeting.

1 BA expect 170,000 pax per year on this route.

2 Flights will be A319 with occasional A320 if required.

3 LBA management are clearly wanting a night stopper and some tweaking of schedules in time, and reading between the lines, this could happen once the route has proved itself.
4. The slots are to T1 so the flights will operate there but will be switched to T5 as soon as possible, probably for the Summer 2013 season

5. I asked if there was any danger these were slot sitter flights and LBA state that BA have assured that this is NOT the case. They are committed to the route as the presence of Andy Lord at the press release would suggest. He is the top bloke, and wouldn't bother if there was no commitment to the route.

6 It was confirmed that early afternoon there will be 2 BA aircraft on the deck at LBA together and 2 LBA departures to LHR within 50 minutes of each other

It seems to me that these schedules are aimed principally at providing two morning flights from LHR to collect pax arriving on the very early morning wave of long haul pax and then those arrriving a little later without making them wait until lunch time, and as has already been pointed out, the first flight to LHR links nicely with a large number of outbound long haul flights. Most of these arrive at LHR early morning, so they leave later in the morning, not first thing.

I expect that over time the schedules will be tweaked, and whilst I still have some fears about slot sitting, I feel more confident after today that BA have committed to this route. Time will tell, but I suspect that it will be up to the Yorkshire Business Community to support it to a degree where BA can't afford to drop it. One thing is for certain, if they do, it won't come back again.

This is my worry really - it is a catch 22. If the route proves itself it will get a nightstopper and better times but in order to prove itself it needs ideal times and a nighstopper from the off. It is a new route by a new airline (you know what I mean) and the schedule is not ideal.

Of course the route is primarily aimed at onward connections but it must also be attractive for day trips to London too. The difference between a route working or failing is very often down to a few passengers and therefore in my opinion LBIA should really push to make the route attractive to all potential customers. I am sure the airport are pushing.

Have been on the Avios (air miles) website and you can fly LBA - HAJ (Hanover), for example for 9000 points + £27.
If you use your Tesco clubcard vouchers, £37.50 will get you the 9000 points so that works out at a total cost of £64.50 - Great Value.

Does anyone know if BA are going to install any self service kiosks at LBA?

Yes I would have thought self service kiosks for passengers will be available. I understand that they are to get a few of there own check-in desks in hall A as well. Plus they will also be opening they own business lounge somewhere near the Stand 7 Air Bridge.

The opening of their own lounge certainly does demonstrate significant commitment to the airport. Good news about their own checkin desks also. Thanks for the info

Hold on, hold on. Where is the source for that information? The only lounge by stand 7 is the new family lounge run by the airport itself. There are no plans (as far as I am aware) to open a new BA lounge.

I just had an email from BA advising me that the BA1344 LHR-LBA which I had booked for 13th December is now departing at 19:00 instead of 20:00.

I wonder if this one hour earlier timing is going to be reflected in earlier flights? Hopefully it will mean a one hour earlier departure for the first southbound flight (which im not booked on incientally) orr possibly an indication that there is going to be an aircraft based in Leeds?

Sorry to get hopes up- just checked. There doesn't seem to be any change to timing of the first soutbound flight of the day.

BA seem to be doing some slight tweaking of schedules. The BA1347 has now been retimed earlier departure 13.15 and is now showing operated by A320, as are all weekend flights.
All other flights remain as A319.

Good news that so many of the flights are now A320's. It will be interesting to see if that continues into the summer season when BA may not have quite so much flexibility with aircraft availability.

have BA upgraded some flights to A320's because they are selling well? or is that just me in my little world LOL

I asked myself same question. Suppose we need someone at BA to prove the answer.

LbaYorkie

According to LBA management, it was always the intention that the service would operate using a mix of A319 and A320 aircraft, although I must admit there are more A320's than they led us to expect.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
