Correct me if I am wrong but I think Wow air already do something similar along these lines. They allow you to take a small item of luggage into the cabin for free but if you want to take a trolley case you need to pay. I think it’s wow air, or is it wizzair?

I don't know about WOW but Wizzair charge for a bag/case that doesn't go under the seat (correct 3/16).

Looks like Ryanair have started to upload there summer 2019 programme. So far from Leeds/Bradford we the 6x routes on sale as follows

Alicante = 7x weekly - 1x daily Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat & Sun
Gdansk = 4x weekly - Tue, Wed, Thu & Sat
Krakow = 4x weekly - Tue, Thu, Sat & Sun
Malaga = 8x weekly - 2x daily Tue & 1x daily Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat & Sun
Warsaw Modlin = 2x weekly - Thu & Sun
Wroclaw = 2x weekly - Thu & Sun

All other routes are still unavailable:
Crete Chania, Corfu, Dublin, Limoges, Pisa Florence, Venice Treviso, Riga, Vilnius, Malta Luqa, Faro, Bratislava, Barcelona Gerona, Fuerteventura, Las Palmas, Ibiza, Arrecife, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca & Tenerife South

I see Ryanair have added some new routes into Exeter and Cardiff for next summer. It would be nice if we could get some new routes nailed on as well. I am curious as to what preferences forum members would have in this respect? I would like to see Madrid for starters.

Wether it's ture or not im not sure! But I did see a rumour posted on the LBA spotters Facebook page over weekend that Ryanair might be looking to putting 2x extra based aircraft into LBA.
Same poster also mentioned Vueling coming back along with a possiblity of Transavia and Norwegian. So I took it all with a big pinch of salt.

Ryanair now have the Leeds/Bradford - Malta route on sale for summer 2019, the flights remain operated by Maltese based aircraft.

Routes now confirmed on sale:
Alicante = 7x weekly - 1x daily Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat & Sun
Gdansk = 4x weekly - Tue, Wed, Thu & Sat
Krakow = 4x weekly - Tue, Thu, Sat & Sun
Malaga = 8x weekly - 2x daily Tue & 1x daily Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat & Sun
Malta Luqa = 2x weekly - Mon & Fri
Warsaw Modlin = 2x weekly - Thu & Sun
Wroclaw = 2x weekly - Thu & Sun

Routes which still remain un-bookable:
Crete Chania, Corfu, Dublin, Limoges, Pisa Florence, Venice Treviso, Riga, Vilnius, Faro, Bratislava, Barcelona Gerona, Fuerteventura, Las Palmas, Ibiza, Arrecife, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca & Tenerife South

Does anyone know - are all the routes already bookable operated by aircraft based abroad? It would make sense for routes operated by LBA based aircraft to only go on sale once Ryanair have confirmed their intentions for 2019 in terms of based aircraft.

Does anyone know - are all the routes already bookable operated by aircraft based abroad?.

I can confirm that's a NO White Heather, as the following rotations are all operated on Leeds based aircraft by looks of things.

Gdansk = Wed & Thu
Krakow = Thu & Sat
Wroclaw = Sun
Alicante = Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, Sat & Sun
Malaga = Tue (x2), Wed, Thu, Fri& Sat

The are plenty of other routes (Gerona-Barcelona, Pisa-Florence, Faro, Arrecife & Las Palmas) that see some if not all rotations operated by non Leeds based aircraft.

I've noticed that Ryanair have today released for sale there full London summer 2019 scheduled which includes flights from Stansted, Luton, Gatwick and Southend.

So I guess it's a wait and see situation regards Leeds/Bradford!

Whatever happens, it's doesn't smack of Ryanair stopping expansion in the UK due to Brexit does it??
I have received my statutory notification from Ryanair that as a u.k. shareholder, my shares will be bought back on the 29th March, a spanish friend of mine has received identical communication, but as a european shareholder.
Whilst I can understand MOL resentment of brexit, whatever deal we do or not do, will in the end force MOL to come of the fence and decide, where he wants to make his bed.
Easyjet have gone for seperate european and u.k. companies, I assume Jet2 will withdraw spanish based aircraft and maintain a u.k. company, what will ryanair do?
Little sign of goodwill between the two parties today, with Juncker making it clear e.u. membership means in the future, the euro being your currancy (next treaty change) and our prime minister in the house of commons making it clear, not a single penny to europe after the 29th of March without a trade deal (house of lords legal advise).
Maybe a coincidence they both threw a fire cracker in to the fire today, not sure helpful.

As far as I understand, if the is a No deal/ hard Brexit Jet2 would not have to withdraw its UK based registered aircraft from its Spanish bases at ALC & PMI because they only operate routes into the UK.
The only way Jet2 would have to withdraw UK registered aircraft from the 2 Spanish bases is if they decided to open up routes within Europe. eg ALC to AMS or PMI to DUS. The easiest way around that would be for Jet2 to apply for AOC from one of the 26+ remaining member countries like Spain.

As you say Easyjet have already sorted out an Austrian AOC to get around them problems, Whilst I'm sure Ryanair have applied to the UK's CAA for a AOC..

I am not sure I can agree with your assessment, certainly MOL in his press conference yesterday, especially detailing the situation with flying and his u.k. shareholders, seemed to be more in my court.
Whilst holding an AOC is one thing, your shareholding legislation is another.
MOL answer yesterday was to advise all u.k. shareholders we could still hold share after 29th March, but with no voting power, up there with many other MOL wide eyed ideas.
With regard to Jet2 the Easyjet route is not possible as Easyjet is 50% european owned, unlike Ryanair and Jet2, this is the big issue. Ryanair really has to decide is it u.k. or european owned, it cant have non voting shares as the way round (my view), Jet2 (Dart Group) to my understanding has a huge u.k. ownership base and has no chance of doing a Easyjet which has just got its share register over the 50% european limit.
If Jet2 holidays intends to fly to America their is no way they can apply for a european AOC, this is MOL dilemma, stay european and give up flying u.k. to the states.

Interesting as I am attending next weeks Ryanair AGM just had a circular this morning that all media is banned and restriction will be placed on shareholders.
It could be very lively as seems city institutions are not to support the companys plans on dealing with u.k. shareholders, no surprise there.
Its obvious that MOL intends for the company to remain european and therefore give up any ambitions to ever fly to the states from u.k. airports, it will though hold both european and u.k. AOC, but for american authorities will be have majority european stakeholders. allowing flights from southern ireland or mainland europe direct to the states.
This will be the position if the currant regulations the u.k. have with europe and america stay in place.
The main issue for Ryanair and Jet2 post brexit will not be its existing European network, but any future american network.

Ryanair seem to be uploading more flights for summer 2019, So far the showing 85+ Weekly rotations. The is 1 spare slot where another rotation could be added to the Leeds based aircraft on a Saturday morning.
Bad News
2x weekly Venice Treviso seems to have been dropped whilst the Pisa-Florence route reduces from 3x to 2x weekly.
Good News
Palma-Majorca increases from 5x weekly 1x daily and the Faro route also increases from 5x weekly to 6x weekly

The Friday gap on one of the Leeds based aircraft has now been filled in for summer 2019. Yeap I bet you can guess it? Its by adding an extra weekly Majorca rotation. So Ryanair will operate Leeds-Palma route once daily up from 5x weekly thispast summer.

Still the is nothing showing to fill in the Saturday morning gap as yet. I will update once I've worked that out whats happening.

Came home last night from FARO on FR2504.....airborne 5mins late with a perfectly smooth flight and clear skys most of the way...glided in to LBA and straight through passport control...all the desks were open and we were the only flight there BUT 25 min wait for hold luggage which isn't very good but we were parked on a remote stand 21A so maybe that took 5 mins longer as it is probably the furthest stand away. Overall experience on flight 9/10...airport 8/10. Faro airport 4/10.

25 minutes for offloading luggage from a 738 is about right tbh.

Just frustrating when you clear passport control straight away then have to sit in the dungeon for nearly half an hour....I had meet a greet so if I would have had just hand luggage I would have been back home in Ilkley just as the bags started to come out.

Baggage handlers seem to get a raw deal in my opinion. They get complaints constantly, "too slow", "they mishandle my luggage", "they steel". Only last week the press featured footage of a baggage handler at Manchester airport who was seen mishandling passengers baggage. This lead to the baggage handler being suspended and probably losing his job. The passenger footage did show baggage being mishandled. Whilst agreeing that the handler in question was mishandling passengers baggage I have pointed out that there are numerous occasions throughout the process when baggage gets thrown about as part of the course.

Usually it will be a team of 4 people who will meet the aircraft when it comes onto stand. They will take on different tasks such as pulling up the tug and attaching a tow bar to the aircraft; pulling the steps up to the aircraft; laying out the safety cones and pigs to prevent passengers from walking under the wings and pulling the belt loader/un-loader up to the aircraft. This all takes place before the luggage can start to be offloaded. Usually there will be two people on the aircraft and two on the ramp stacking the bags onto the trolleys. On a 737-800 luggage is split evenly between the front and rear of the aircraft so if the baggage team only have one belt loader they will have to maneuver the belt loader to do the front and the rear of the aircraft.

At Leeds Bradford the speed limit on the ramp is just 10mph. This drops to 5mph when the airport is in Low Visibility Procedures so getting around the airport can take time especially if the aircraft is parked remotely. Speed limits are enforced by the airport authority. So getting the offloaded bags to the carousels can talk time and 20 to 30 minutes is about the norm.

It seems pot luck to me last week at Las Palmas with Ryanair we were though passport contol in 10 minutes and our bags were already on the carousel waiting for us and the airport was really busy and bhx was o.k. on our return also. I would say 25 minutes is pretty good personally it took us nearly 2hours a few years back at LHR.

Have to say have used Rome Fuimicino a few times every year and if you get your cases within 60 minutes of the air bridge attached your doing well, (accept if your a non e.u. traveller it will take over 60 minutes to get through passport control), on average takes a good 20 minutes from touch down to gate arrival, so 90 minutes to exit the airport from touchdown..
THe first time I booked a car to collect me at Rome, rang the contact number to advice I had cleared custom to be advised my contract had expired as I had to meet the car within 60 minutes of touch down, or ring to advise I was late, learned a valuable lesson.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
