Just to give you an update on my experience of the Ryanair position. I fly LBA/AGP predominantly with Ryanair around a dozen times a year Plus holiday flights elsewhere. As the Covid situation unfolded I was able to comfortably return with Ryanair and had flights booked again in March with Jet 2 and then a further return flight with Ryanair in early April. Jet 2 cancelled and refunded in around 18 days. Thank you. Ryanair emailed several times; flight cancelled you’ll get and we are processing a refund, we are still processing your refund twice, we are not processing your refund now here’s a voucher to use for 12 months if you insist on a refund you’ll go in a queue and it will be processed when the situation is over and the final email - we sent you a voucher, if you don’t use it in the next 12 months you can have a refund then, please confirm you have a voucher.

You are legally entitled to a refund for a cancelled flight. I would not be taking vouchers for cancelled flights. They are supposed to do a refund within 7 days in accordance with Art 8 EC261. To be fair I would give it a few weeks tho. However, if after 3/4 weeks they still haven't refunded you should do a charge back on your card and not wait for FR any further.

There are now reports of the banks dragging their feet on credit card refunds for cancellations, despite the fact there’s a legal requirement to pay up. It seems the consumer just can’t win.

Ryanair have just announced this moring its looking to slash up to 3000 jobs of which will mainly be flight crew and possibly closing bases throughout Europe including here in the UK. I guess the LBA base maybe in the firing line what with them already cutting back substantially in past 6 months.

It's is also said to be in talks with US based aircraft manufacture Boeing to further delay deliveries of it new fleet of 737-MAX aircraft.

Seriously bad news if this happens to Ryanair generally and LBA specifically.

I think you can widen that to the whole travel industry and trust me I am speaking from experience here. In fact it is affecting many industries. Of course we directly think LBA is suffering, but Jet2 seem quite strong so perhaps most of the eggs in the one basket might just prove to be LBA's advantage. We need more of the green shoots that are starting to appear overall, but there is definitely no quick fix and a long haul (excuse the pun) to pre Covid levels, if indeed they will ever be reached

Just had a text through from Ryanair cancelling my parents 18th may flight. says that they can change there flight or get a refund, this will be processed within 20 days back to the form of payment used for original booking. Are they just making that up because that's not what im hearing from the media and other customers?

As was to be expected it looks like Ryanair have cancelled all flights up until May 21st now. Friday May 22nd is the next available bookable date. I wonder how long we have to wait until that date changes?

With the announcement today from Ryanair I feel they might be some scare tactics going on here to try and get the aviation industry up and running abit quicker and to speed up the ending of the lockdown, end of the day Ryanair finances appear to be one of the stronger.
If we did though see the end of the LBA Ryanair base which would be sad news, no way would they end strong performing routes like Dublin, alicante and malaga , based aircraft at those airports would just fly into LBA and return back to those airports. Im sure the LBA base will be ok in fact before all this virus crisis I believe we were to see an increase in routes from winter 20/21?

A further point to note was MOL did indeed say he expected a full recovery to pre covid passenger levels but he thought it would take two years.
Also to note Ryanair is the only airline where bad news is good news! If you look at all ryanairs history they must be the only company where they actually increase passenger loads and make mass profits through negative news, MOL comments and wide spread dodgy media coverage and at the end of the day if their loads were lower then they just drop their fares for abit and hey loads will be up again!
You hear it all the time "im never flying with Ryanair again" but as soon as those cheap flights appear they book!

Ryanair Group COVID-19 update: The Ryanair group has further moved back the proposed relaunch of services from Leeds/Bradford from the initial mid May date up to until July at the earliest.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
