Ryanair's Boeing 737 MAX8-200 has now received FAA certification. First deliveries due this month with some going to Malta Air in their new red/white livery. Only a matter of time until we see them at LBA.

Dublin based Ryanair Group are expecting 26+ newly delivered Boeing 737-MAX 8200's aircraft to be in service for peak summer (June) 2021 if all goes to plan regarding approval from the European authority EASA .

Malta Air (+2 = 9H-UVA/B)
Buzz (+8 = SP-RZA/B/C/D/E/F/G & Z)
Ryanair (+16 = EI-HAT/V/W/X/Y, EI-HEJ/K/L/M/N/O/P/S/T/V/W & Y) along with a further 9 aircraft that are in storage awaiting the MCAS modifications. (EI-HEZ, EI-HGE/F/G/H/I/J/K/L & M)

Have they @lbaspotter got the spare aircraft to pump some capacity into LBA to mop some of the Spanish demand up if it is there?

Well the 2+ based aircraft return week commencing May 17th and are not fully utilised until July 1st, So yes they could easily add some extra flights into the based programme from May 17th up until late June when Jet2 get started up on 23rd
After July 1st who knows, I guess that will depend on Boeing delivering some of the 737-MAX-8200's!

I really hope Ryanair do something before Jet2 start up. I have serious aircraft withdrawal symptoms now. I can't start to think normality is even on the distant horizon until we have the airport operating more meaningfully than it is now, with 2 X ATR72s a week.

Malta looks like being in the green list, so there's an opportunity for additional Malta Air capacity or extra flights there using the based Ryanair units.

There is a big opportunity for others, notably Eastern, on Newquay this summer. They need to up their game and use something bigger than a J41.

Ryanair look to be pushing back their start dates on some flights. LBA to Alicante and Málaga all pushed back to first week in June. I’m not sure what other destinations are affected yet. It seems to be work in progress at the moment. Many other bases are also reporting cancellations. The lack of government clarity is no doubt to blame.

I would say the lack of government clarity is to blame entirely.

What we need is a 90's style Jersey programme? Imagine four or five flights on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Surely some of these Ryanair, Jet2 737s (either or) can make it into JER? Get a similar programme going to Newquay and it will get things moving again.

we already have a NQY route, is there enough demand for another? nope. with JER, GCI & SOU already covered, I'm not too sure where else you are suggesting.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
