Given they’ve been slow to put S22 on sale it sounds like they’re travelling to Yorkshire with a list of demands to squeeze even more with some pretty hefty bargaining tools!

Does it matter about Ryanair, if the route is such a money maker, someone else will quickly fill the void.

Actually yes it does matter. They’re a valuable airline here at LBA and is disappointing if they’re indeed cutting it for winter. Just because they cut the route doesn’t mean another carrier will fill the gap as such. Hopefully when LBA and Ryanair have talks it’ll be good news and they will hopefully add Alicante flights back along with maybe new routes.

Sounds to me like more of a spat with Alicante then local airports in the UK if that is the case.

And we know Alicante will value the amount of passengers they put through the airport each year from the UK alone let alone any other countries Ryanair fly to and fro.

The 'like' is for your explanation, not for the uncertainty surrounding the LBA-ALC route.

If Ryanair have genuinely axed the route for winter would it not be a good opportunity for the airport to try and get into bed with Easyjet and try to encourage them to fly the route. If it is as popular as appears from all the comments then this would be an ideal time for them to look at the route. May be wrong here but I thought I had seen somewhere on here that someone in a high position at LBA had some connections with Easy.

Yes, the commercial Director is ex easyJet, but it's not so simple as them just taking in the ALC route. They don't have a base here to fly the route. Just doing a one off route to Spain doesn't work. They would need a base and they have repeatedly declined to operate single aircraft bases. With easyJet they are in in a big way, or not at all.

easyJet have announced extra A/C at bases inc FAO, AGP, PMI & BCN, im not sure if they have a ALC base but if they did they could add in rotations from ALC based AC. easyJet was never big at BHX but slowly grew destinations there. hopefully LBA could get something similar.

Didn't FR have a big fall out with ALC a couple of years ago and removed a lot of routes? think i recall.

easyJet strategy is to be no.1 or no.2 on routes at their bases and to be the the similar position at the bases. Hence probably doing a sole ALC doesn't work.

You could get it done several different ways but I would reckon crew hours would restrict a 4 flight day to Alicante if it was to be for example a Liverpool or Manchester airport base. You could do it BFS-LBA-ALC-LBA-BFS route but that scuppers the BFS business passengers. Years ago NCL/BRS did there respective BRS-NCL-AGP-BRS, and NCL-BRS-AGP-NCL routes. If LBA was to become a base for easyJet that could happen with us for ALC as the example.

@Ap1995 you are correct. Hence my post #2,585. However it appears it isn't sadly a spat with Alicante.

Ryanair have pulled the Leeds/Bradford to Ibiza route. As it’s not on the list anymore.

Still concerning that S22 is not on sale still..
They usually put flights on sale 6 months before. (Or so I’m told) so if that’s the case flights would be on sale till April. (The start of the Summer season)

Every other base is on sale apart from EMA, so I really don't think it is the case at all now, loosing alot of forward bookings to other bases/airlines now

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
