There has to be something else going on behind the scenes regarding the alicante route, when I've flown this route many times the aircraft is always 100percent full and the onboard sales never stop. Benidorm where most travel to is the largest holiday resort in europe and the 2nd largest in the world so will always be there, plus of course you have the thousands of ex pat properties in that area stretching from south of valencia right down to the murcia area which would be the catchment area for ALC airport.
No way would the ryanairs LBA to ALC route go from 5,6 flights a week to nada, there surely is another reason.
Always used this service that overall was good.
I’m with you on that. They serve ALC the most out of all the routes from LBA so is a surprise. Yes demand is lower than usual but I don’t think that would be a reason to cut it all together as a lot of UK airports have suffered the same but still have RYR on the route. And many UK airports have more than 1 carrier doing ALC on a daily during this. So doesn’t add up to me.

Ryanair cannot be second guessed. After operating Bristol-Malta for many, many years year-round, against other airlines in the past, they axed the route for summer 2021 (and currently for the coming winter and next summer), as well as axing CWL-MLA and EXT-MLA. That left no Malta flights this summer from the entire South West England or from Wales until easyJet stepped in to operate BRS-MLA just 2 x weekly.

No disrespect to Malta. But it’s not as popular as Alicante area. I’ve spoken to a number of travel agents which say Malta is hard to sell. Unlike Alicante where they get loads.

The demand hasn't disappeared nor been affected by covid. What has reduced demand is the ludicrous money making testing scheme.

Demand is there - and Jet2 need Ryanair, like Ryanair need Jet2 on this route. I have to point that out. They both balance each other out; One ups the other customer service levels the other brings the fares down a little and stimulates the market.

It's bizarre Ryanair are not giving it this winter a chance. 3 airlines seemed excessive but Jet2 didn't operate as many flights when there was 3 airlines.

As much as i cant stand flying with ryanair, this is a disaster for me and my family flying to our villa! Jet 2 are just so much more expensive.

Same here its a disaster for me and my family as we have a place just south of benidorm, im also aware of many others who rely on the ALC flights. Also to note there is now x2 daily from MAN to ALC with ryanair in winter.

Maybe it doesn’t pay … maybe it’s loss making for the airline … I doubt it but you never know.

Or they’ve seen forward bookings and done a runner. Like I’ve said before though polar opposites, Ryanair need to be on this route. Ryanair need Jet2 as much as Jet2 need Ryanair.

Couple of random dates loaded for ALC at the start of November, just random flights or more to come? Time will tell…..

Alicante based aircraft Monday, 1st & Friday 5th of November, they are normal end of season flights. That's unless things have changed.

FR9078 = ALC 0730 - LBA 09:15 / FR9079 = LBA 09:40 - ALC 13:25

They're extra's to Palma on same dates

FR2311 = PMI 15:40 - LBA 17:20 / FR2310 = LBA 17:45 - PMI 21:20

Let’s hope that they might put flights back on sale. Hopefully like easyJet they will slowly appear back onto the website.

Like I said time will tell, booking lead times at the moment industry wide are extremely short. People have, or they are planning summer 22, but the rest of this year is very much “I’m on annual leave next week, where can we go?”. You can’t read to much into anything until you see that official announcement….

People surely want to go on holiday during Winter to? You have to take that into account also. But let’s see anyway hopefully more will be added.

I feel bad for @LBA4EVER as he has less choices at the moment.

I know there is a meeting between LBA and Ryanair coming up and have no doubt this and other matters will be discussed. Let's see what happens afterwards. Owt or nowt.

I'ld like to be a "fly on the wall" in that meeting!

Let's hope LBA can get a new deal sorted with Ryanair ASAP so that it's "win-win" for both parties involved.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
