Wonder what's going to happen with FR’s 737-Max planes, is it a case when one door closes another opens?

Nice attempt at humour @BCFC but potentially this situation could have been a lot worse and also has the potential for serious reputational damage for the Max, especially if the 8’s do end up being grounded for checks. I know I have my moments re humour but not sure this is a topic to joke about, although the saving grace so far is there has been nothing fatal re this door issue

No one has been injured otherwise I wouldn't have joked about it. Never been a fan of the MAX, riddled with problems from day one.

Whilst there were no serious physical injuries, the whole experience would have been very traumatic and many passengers would have suffered from this. A depressurisation of that magnitude would have been very violent (reports of one boy having his shirt ripped off and mobile phones and other loose items flying around the cabin). Such event can lead to long term problems such as on-going nightmares. It's still suffering, whether it's physical or mental.

I could me mistaken (easily done I hasten to add) but thought I had read somewhere that the FR Max did have the same doors. I really hope they aren't affected
As I've posted above, the doors are different on the B737-MAX8-200 to those of the B737-MAX9 and all is explained in the video posted by KARFA -

If you would read the relevant thread, where the conversation is taking place, you would know this.

I thought the Ryanair X account was trying to provoke a response by talking about "plug-in devices a couple of days back.

Discussion ongoing here -

The FR B737-MAX8-200's are not affected, as they have a different door design to the 'plug doors' on the B737-MAX9's as described in the video uploaded by KARFA -

The max9s are that little bit longer than the max8s so have the optional extra emergency door which is what blew out.
Wow mcas, rudder issues and now there not even bolted together correctly. I've said it before trying to enhance an old airframe does not work!

It's nothing to do with enhancing an old airframe. It's about quality control. No aircraft should be in the air with the retaining bolts not tightened and IF it left the Boeing factory that way, then they need to up their game and be quick about it.

Clearly, old airframe or not, there's a lot of demand for the 737 MAX family. It seems to me though that in an attempt to keep up with Airbus, they have let their standards slip on several fronts, and in case you forget, the 787, a new design, hasn't exactly been trouble free.

If you go back far enough, virtually every new aircraft to enter service has had issues at some point, leading to groundings or redesigns. The flaws get identified and fixed. Thereafter, the aircraft types generally become safer, and it'll no doubt be the same with the 737 MAX in all it's different guises.

Has someone gotten out the wrong side of the bed this morning?
Not at all! I had posted links to The Ramp Forum > Air Accidents and Incidents Discussions thread, which answers all of the questions regarding the different emergency door/plug door options on the B737-900NG and the B737-MAX8-200 and B737-MAX9. I posted this on this thread, 3 1/2 hours before you asked a question which would have been answered if you had only viewed the links provided. I find it really annoying when members wont look at information provided, or even view threads outside of 'their airport forum' and then ask questions that have already been answered.

I stick to 'my airport forum' and dont go searching elsewhere if a discussion is on going.
Maybe if it annoys you that much you should step down as moderator, or take a chill pill! No human is perfect, however you must be!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
