I guess you found out last minute and had to look it up pretty fast? You can go to Dublin for as little as a tenner if you book well in advance.
How do the prices measure up against Aer Lingus as they seem to be very competitive from all the UK airports that they both serve?

Puzzled as to why anybody would expect to find a "cheap" flight within 18-48 hours?

That's the problem with "cheap flights". If I have to pay more than £100 return to go to the "Costas", I cringe then remember that in 1993 you had to pay £160 to fly to Amsterdam!

It's natural, when you usually book in advance and then have to book last minute, that you are surprised at the fares. Most "last minute" bookings are by business people, the company picks up the bill.

Sorry, I think I have gone "slightly" off topic.

I cringe then remember that in 1993 you had to pay £160 to fly to Amsterdam!

And that was at 1993 prices. People forget that sort of thing when they complain about having to pay a couple of quid at the drop-off (and not just at LBA).

Unfortunately I only knew I had to be in Dublin today, at 15.oohrs yesterday.
Air lingus was even more expensive then ryanair.
In the old days (showing my age) if you booked at the last minute always a lot cheaper. if the seats are unsold why such a loading.
This is the second time in 12 months that due to a family berevement I have had to travel at the last minute. There must be hundreds in my position, why should we be taken to the cleaners.
In the end took the ferry at £50 return.

I have wondered if Ryanair will announce a Copenhagen -Leeds new route. However they have now announced a 3 times weekly CPH -EDI service. That makes Norwegian, EasyJet and SAS and now FR all on the route.-fares from £19.99! Last week I booked CPH to EDI with Norwegian for £30 single, no baggage! When will LBA get a Danish, or even Norwegian connection? There must be 'some' demand from Yorkshire.

Ryanair have launched flights to Israel from airports in Central Europe which comes as no surprise and is one to watch because it could very easily be connected to the UK bases, since the 738s have the range.

Ryanair have just confirmed that they are banning carry on duty free bottles of alcohol bought at UK airports on its flights to Ibiza due to rowdy and drunken passengers.

Good news that you can still buy duty free alcohol at the airport as long as you can fit it into a cabin type bag thats been tagged at check-in and can be then put into the aircraft hold whilst boarding. now the Bad news is that if you have it in plastic type carrier bag or bag that can't go into the Aircraft hold due to it not been tagged it will be confiscated from you before boarding the aircraft and not returned.

Jet2 also reported an increase in this type of antisocial behaviour across their route network only a few weeks ago. Rowdy passengers have been getting away with this type of behaviour for far too long and it is high time something was done about it.

It probably doesn't help when airport waterholes continue to allow unruly passengers to purchase alcohol despite it been illegal to serve alcohol to somebody who is already drunk. It makes me lean towards the idea that hefty fines should be given out to such establishments to ensure the law is strictly adhered to.

It is of course also illegal to be drunk on board an aircraft so I suppose a legal limit could also be put in place enabling border agencies to ban and issue fines at the departure gates.

Discussion about this continues in this thread: post64096.html#p64096

Which route are they decreasing to make way for it?

It annoys me to some extent. Had it not been for their stupid row with Alicante airport, this route would already be daily, probably being operated by non based aircraft. But there we go.

Ryanair Summer 2016 LBA schedule is up, and although as we all know there will be lots of changes before it actually commences, here is what it looks like so far. Staying a 3 aircraft base at LBA.

Flight Frequencies: PMI – 6 weekly, LIG – 2 weekly, CFU – 1 WEEKLY, CHQ – 2 WEEKLY, PSA – 2 weekly, TSF – 2 weekly, RIX – 2 weekly, MLA – 2 weekly. GDN – 4 weekly, KRK – 3 weekly, FAO – 4 weekly, ALC – 6 weekly, FUE – 2 weekly, IBZ – 2 weekly, ACE – 2 weekly, ALC – 7 weekly, MJV – 2 weekly, TFS – 2 weekly.

Increases to the likes of PMI & ALC. However, DNR, KUN & MPL currently have 0 flights loaded. As there are no gaps in the schedule so far, hopefully we will find a way to not lose these destinations. There are some odd turnaround times on Tuesdays TSF & Thursday and Sundays IBZ flights. However, I believe these to be due to the fact next years outbound time has been brought forward and they are yet to change the inbound times.

As things stand, 134 weekly flights from Ryanair next Summer 2016!!.

Just been looking at Ryanair website and good news is that it looks like they have been adding flights from LBA next summer especially in August again. Even better is that all the other extra flights which were already added remain on sale as well so that just leaves the 2x weekly Dinard route not on sale which looks like it might have been dropped.

Montpellier = Now back on sale 2x weekly on Mondays & Thursdays
Palma = Increased from 6x to 7x weekly with a new Friday flight added.
Faro = Increased from 4x weekly to 6x weekly with new flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Arrecife = Increased from 2x to 3x weekly with extra Thursday flight

Mondays
FR2004 = LBA 16:40 - MPL 19:55 / FR2003 = MPL 20:20 - LBA 21:35 (May 30th - Sep 27th)
Tuesdays
FR2504 = FAO 06:55 - LBA 10:00 / FR2503 = LBA 10:25 - FAO 13:30 (Aug 2nd - Aug 30th )
Thurdays
FR2004 = LBA 09:30 - MPL 12:45 / FR2003 = MPL 13:10 - LBA 14:25 (May 26th - Sep 29th)
FR2503 = LBA 15:15 - FAO 18:20 / FR2504 = FAO 18:45 - LBA 21:50 (Aug 4th - Aug 25th)
FR2047 = ACE 13:40 - LBA 18:00 / FR2048 = LBA 18:25 - LBA 22:55 (Aug 4th - Aug 25th)
Fridays
FR2326 = LBA 16:55 - PMI 20:35 / FR2327 = PMI 21:10 - LBA 23:00 (Aug 5th - Aug 26th)

Anybody notice that Ryanair have a double daily Alicante flight on Fridays this year?!

Yeah for this month sees extra flights operating from Leeds to Malaga, Faro, Arrecife and Alicante which were added into the programme around the middle of the summer. There are also some schedule changes to other routes operated by Ryanair throughout this month and into early next month.

I'm flying to Limoges on Thursday and just wondered if anyone knew if this aircraft is based at LBA? Mainly asking in case it's foggy like it has been early morning of late.

Yeah all flights to Limoges this summer are operated by the either one of the three Leeds/Bradford based aircraft.

It would be good if you could do a report of your trip :smile:

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
