Birmingham and Cardiff airports 'most punctual', OAG says

Birmingham and Cardiff have emerged as the only two major UK airports to win OAG’s top on-time performance rating, with Jet2.com the only UK airline to gain five stars for its punctuality.

The worldwide survey by the air travel intelligence brand put Birmingham airport in the top five of on time performance, with 90.2% of its 106,000 flights being on time in the 12 months to October. Cardiff won 10th place, with 89.4% of its 15,000 flights leaving and arriving within 15 minutes of scheduled time.

Well we see the comparative performances of other UK airports in the article. We've been bleating perhaps a little too much about the clear deterioration this summer of the routine 'customer experience' at BHX :)arghh:) when we see the others' results. This is clearly understandable on our threads because we're after (in some small way but not our only raison d’être by any stretch) ) the raising of issues for wider discussion for the improvement of BHX's services for our region, its businesses, population and healthy trading prosperity, and for holidaying! So in some way on the thread/site we should celebrate a little more - any ideas how? (success emoticons?)

'Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but that's because these awards are measuring the on-time performance of arriving and departing aircraft. So an airport could have all aircraft arrive on-time, but if every passenger had to wait 3 hours to get through the airport, it would still count as a 5 Star Airport.
Congratulations are still of course due for receiving this status regardless.'

Sorry Coathanger16 (and others) - I'd missed your discussion of the data on the infrastructure thread.

ACL Winter 2017/18 Start of Season Report for BHX has been released.

Makes for interesting reading. Suggests BHX will be pretty Stagnant in terms of growth over Christmas but that also doesn't account for the Extra capacity announced by Jet2 and TUI over Christmas so be interesting to see what happens.

Sorry to change the subject woody (How rude of me) but what do you think of our new tower proposal as shown on the Greater Birmingham Thread ? Now back to BHX.

For the first time in a while I managed to get a free couple of hours and walk up to BHX from Marston Green.

Walking up the path it all seemed so quiet with a Turkish 738 having the whole of T1 to itself, unsurprising with it being mid morning lull and it wasn't long before a constant stream of arrivals filled it up again. It did feel strange not seeing the based Monarch's returning from their morning runs.

Emirates check in had a massive queue and Qatar looked decent too, especially their Business Class. Czech Airlines were checking in next to the TUi area with their queue stretching down past M&S, it seemed way to many for an A319 :wideyed:

All traces of Monarch have gone with hoardings up around their old ticket desk, I had a quick peek through the gap and it looks as if it's been removed completely. The only other thing I noticed is that Thomas Cook are now using the self service bag drops.

I dropped my brother off on Wednesday night for his trip to India (via Dubai) and took a look at the bag-drop area.

It struck me that the old Monarch ticket sales area could be easily converted to self-service bag-drop replicating the area opposite.

Would certainly get rid of some of the early morning queues.

No idea. I'm trying to look for any hints hidden amongst the corporate waffle.

I guess time will tell but with a master plan getting ever closer and a new CEO to appoint I hope that things move quickly.

TCorp Chief Investment Officer. "We are excited about working with our partners, not only on this investment but also on future opportunities. TCorp has a strategy of building long-term relationships with other sophisticated investors, which we believe will help to deliver value to our clients and members, both for managing existing investments and for identifying new investment opportunities."

Head of Private Markets at Sunsuper. "We believe that investments in the infrastructure sector provide greater scope for value creation through responsible stewardship, governance and proactive management of assets to create value for our members. We look forward to our ongoing involvement in the Bristol and Birmingham airports, with a key focus on delivering high-quality outcomes for all passengers and stakeholders."

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
