Iceland and volcanic ash, what happened? We recovered and moved on. I believe in the resilience of the British and likeminded countries , difficulties mean new challenges and new thinking. Let us please be positive, enjoy the downtime and be ready to recover to be stronger and better as a nation, but do stay safe and well.

The good carriers stay with us, the rest fall away. Time to enjoy the good scotch me thinks!
Glad to have you back Jenny. I hope you are keeping well.

I also hope that everything will bounce back as quick as it did after the Big E went bang.

Keep smiling

I think we all feel that way. Just remember for the vast majority it's like waiting to get a cold.
Coronavirus is a similar virus as a cold (rhinovirus) hence the fear that so many will get it. If we are all sensible and use common sense we should be okay. No one wants even a common cold and it is amazing that we are so careless to let them spread.

Much much good will come from this: health, society, less greed (for most of us), environmentally....is it just me or does the air smell and taste clean? Bob Ross has become more popular than ever on You Tube. The public sector will be properly funded again. BTS world tour cancelled...and much more.

In the meantime stop the spread and help where you can.

Speaking personally and not generally, I already am aware of my demise and am simply awaiting the day, so if Covid19 has my name, so be it.

I have been confined for well over a year for reasons very few trusted people know about so I am not particularly bothered, I have little to lose except a bit of weight, and thanks to the panic buyers, this too shall become easy.

Others manage their affairs according to circumstances and I wish them well.

The empty skies bother me because it is my interest in life to observe aircraft, and that is now denied me though young Greta should be happy! Even my Netflix is disrupted due to demand on Broadband so I fall back on my dense law books or sleep in daylight hours.

Keep well and if possible, keep smiling.

Thank you JJ for sharing your very honest thoughts. All that I can say is that you appear to have come to terms with whatever illness you have and I can only wish you peace and hopefully the chance to see a few more aircraft during your lifetime.

I am just re-reading the James Clavell novel "Shogun" and there is so much mention of Karma meaning "what is to be is to be." We can not change what is ordained for us.

God Bless

A splendid attitude. Bear in mind that even for the elderly or unwell amongst us there's a MUCH greater likelihood of surviving COVID than not.

They tend to display the number of confirmed cases and number of deaths together, giving a far more frightening picture than reality. The experts consider each death corresponds to around 1000 infected individuals, whether showing symptoms or not. So the current 1000 deaths in the UK is from roughly 1000000 infections, not just the quoted 17000 confirmed cases. Much less dramatic death rate (though there is a delay in reporting a death).

May you still be entertaining us with your knowledge and wit next March.

If you get bored counting sheep to nod off, try counting Sunwing 737s - the (I think) 5th is on its way from Canada to BHX!

More Sunwing's? Oh goody, something for the skeleton staff to do! As for the virus, heck there are greater risks of mortality than a variant of a Influenza bug, a microbe from tending the garden can easily finish you. It is the risk that comes from living, warming up cooked rice from cold can be deadly but I digress, I personally believe media coverage has been overdone, it is scaring people without the help from UK Government!

Dare I say it, but the media have been far worse than the government. They have been truly awful. The measured response from virology and health experts (who know what they are doing, as experts do) has been met with sensationalism and factually incorrect reporting across the board.

Common sense kills viruses as much as anything else: Stop the spread by using common sense in following the health sectors advice.

Everyone keep safe and use your brain and not facebeebmorganinstatoktwit

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
