Much publicity today on both national and local news of the Queens Baton being flown around all 72 Commonwealth nations and territories. It departs BHX on Saturday 9th to Cyprus. Anyone know what aircraft will be involved in this tour around the World?.

It's also great to hear our cities name mentioned like never before, I have lost count today how many times I have heard the name on the TV. The city is being advertised across all channels, I love it (y)

With passenger fees increasing by up to 56% at Heathrow, i wonder if this will encourage both airlines and passengers to look at BHX as an alternative. Obviously other airports in the South East will be looking to benefit, but it may make travellers further north think carefully about the trip to LHR in the future.

I think the right move would be to scrap Air Passenger Duty at some regional airports. It’s weird, as a government they will set up enterprise zones (no business rates), free ports (no duties or tax) but the simple idea of scrapping air passenger duty at smaller airports is always overlooked

Mmmmmmmmmm shoud I think about booking my summer holiday ??? I might have a nosey this weekend and see what is on offer

However Jet2 are still off my bucket list for now, I fancy giving TUI a go for once.

However at the moment old passport is at HM Passport office and had to pay £75.50 to get a new one, robbing --------

Despite the ICAO safety report, EASA have refused to lift their ban on Pakistani airlines until they can conduct their own safety inspections. i presume this means the Jordan A330s will be flying in for the foreseeable.

Hi there all, I was talking a friend today, who's due to fly to Arizona on Saturday from Heathrow, yet he informed me that there were chaotic scenes at Birmingham Airport yesterday, after the airport were charging £100 pounds to put your back in a locker, is this true...AndyC

#AndyC - is that a bag rather than back?

Seemingly a Data entry error at source. Happens with supermarkets often leading to erroneous pricing at checkouts. Common practice is to honour prices even if in error. Legally, it becomes a matter as to depth of pockets whether to pursue in the courts.

It has just dawned on me that with the end of the Federal Express service later this month that's it for 757s at BHX on any regular service.
Will be a sad day and the 757 seemed to become more appreciated as it became rarer.

Pity Jet2 won't send us a couple for the summer (all Manchester based I believe) instead of Smart Lynx A321s as you can see A320 series all day long just about anywhere.

Outside chance of seeing one when/if Turkmenistan return? It would most likely be a 738 I imagine but one can dream.

Off aviation but I hope somebody may be able to assist.

My sister is flying into BHX from YVR, via YYC/AMS on Sunday morning and needs, on arrival, to buy a UK sim card for her mobile. Can anybody suggest where the nearest shop would be? After staying overnight at the airport they are then travelling down to Moreton-in-the-Marsh on the Monday.

Many thanks in advance - feel free to PM rather than cluttering up the thread.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
