While it’s very quiet at the moment around the Routes side of things.I have been looking at solutions to expand the terminal and cargo side things.

1.Demolish the old elmdon tower and build a cargo terminal for 747s and extended private aircraft slots
2.Access for new fuel farm for cargo and private jets near the elmdon cargo terminal
3.Expand the aircraft parking areas for more decent aircraft and airlines
4.Extend the terminal for jet2 and local gates

With expanding the parking areas and extending the terminal you looking at creating
10,000-15,000 jobs for swissport ,EasyJet,Tui airways,Jet2 Ryanair and other respected airlines.

Photos match with the numbers.

The Elmdon terminal is a grade II listed building which would make demolishing it somewhat difficult.

It's an historic part of the airports and City of Birminghams history if anything it should be restored to its original state open to the public including the steps(older members will know them).

Demolishing it would be sacrilege.

Just my opinion.

The section in your third photograph used to have stands but it created a cul-de-sac meaning arriving aircraft having to wait for departing aircraft which isn't ideal. It flows much better now with access at both ends.

Personally I think they'll have to build over Low Brook and adjacent to the fire station to add more stands, hopefully with that walkway that we saw plans for a few years ago. It's either that or start eating into the car parks.

A rather random question but something I’m intrigued about…

Having flown out the airport a lot recently with easyJet I’ve noticed how random their gate assignments are - sometimes over at 14/15/16 sometimes in the 40s, even boarded at 60.

It made me wonder is there any logic at BHX as to where airlines are assigned gates? I suppose as most are handled by Swissport it makes very little difference

In my (very limited) experiences of easyjet 14/15/16 have always been domestic arrivals or departures. No idea about the others, I guess it's just pot luck.

Do you mean the informal entrance near the end of the runway (i.e. here)? If so, its not an official entrance, only an informal path through the trees. The official entrance (i.e. a public right of way) is further down, opposite Elmstead Avenue (about a 5 minute walk from the runway end).

Worth noting that the latest BCC plans (not sure if has gone through yet) are to charge for parking at the official car park (on Ragley Drive, much further away), so if there is an unofficial entrance i suggest it might've been permanently blocked to deter those from trying to avoid fees. Doesnt stop anyone parking on local roads and walking via the public rights of way (of which there are plenty - i for example normally park on Parkdale Road near the flats). There is also car park adjacent Marston Green station.

I should say i havent been around there with the pup for a while, so i might be talking a lot of nonsense...!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
