There must be something about the 20th of the month, as today's Stockholm service has been cancelled as was the case on the 20th of April. This doesn't make you feel that they are very committed to this route with 50% cancelled from the weekly available flights. It doesn't send a very positive message

Yet Monarchs service to ARN was reported a very busy service. SAS do charge legacy prices, when a low cost or low fares airline would most likely do very well on the route.

Cheers

Karl

Just tried a few dates to look at prices - Out 15/6 Back 17/6 Total £235 . More of a concern is that any other dates after 15th June, the direct flights are gone ! Only offers flights through Copenhagen
Maybe they have pulled the flights already ? It could be that the booking engine isn't working properly

They stop for the summer holidays when not much happens in Scandinavia, it happened last time ARN was served. They return again in September.

flights stop 17th June, re-start 17th August.

Maybe if SAS advertised the route locally, thay might attract a few more passengers, I always think any new route or airline needs to spend money on advertising to get the message out to the public about flights, how many Midlanders actually know SAS fly to Stockholm from Brum twice a week?

Didn't realise it was such a limited schedule compared to a bit further north.. I was expecting at least 4 weekly to daily. 2 weekly to a European capital city by the home-hub airport isn't likely to get many premium passengers.

Thanks for the clarification. I just wonder what sector of the market is their target. The Monarch services were clearly aimed at the leisure traveller but these frequencies and dates of operation don't fit either business or leisure
Maybe this is why it failed last time

They may operate it because a Swedish holiday company takes an allocation on the aircraft and the packages might not be sold during the gap so SAS don't see a reason to operate the route then.

Somewhere amongst my negatives is a shot of a WMPTE bus with SAS airlines advertising on the side.

I did wonder whether the airline reciprocated the advertising within Scandinavia, but i don't think they did.

That must have been for the Copenhagen service i assume?

For a route to be successful surely it needs time to mature so that people become aware of it? I bet the General Public could only name 1 or 2 places you can fly to from Birmingham? If you didn't have an interest in it why would you want to know any more than that? Surely even Businesses would only find out about the route when going to book the destination directly with the airline

I don't actually know where I'm going with my point now, but I also don't understand these airlines sometimes.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
