Decent 16% increase in loads when compared to the same period in 2015.

May be impacted by the Easter holidays, so will keep an eye on the April stats to get the underlying trend.

It is of note that the March load, if operated by an A359 would be around 61%.

Using the current equipment, it represents around 59% LF. Which I think is quite good in the circumstances.

Ok, here it goes.

Singapore Airlines to operate SIN-MAN-IAH from either 1st November or 1st March depending how quickly they can sort out the issue around the B777 that caught fire at SIN.

Flight times/numbers:

SQ62 SIN 0230 MAN 0810-0940 IAH 1405
SQ61 IAH 1740 MAN 0835-1005 SIN 0615+1

So, 2 aircraft on the ground 0835-0940. Flight operates daily.

This info comes from several credible and reliable sources, and, the supporting slot request is posted below. Singapore have historically only ever applied for slots at MAN that they intend to use, so, is reliable in itself.

SQ327/328 will terminate at MUC when the new routing starts.

Happy days!

Super stuff.

Do you know if any UA codeshare is proposed on the MAN-IAH section. It might make sense for developing the feed.

Flights will switch over on March 1st.

SQ327/328 have had F class sales stopped from that date as they will switch to terminating A350 on that date.

1st March will see the first flight direct from SIN arrive first, then the one from IAH that stopped at DME on its outbound.

Assuming F class is in SQ62/61, one could almost make a case for saying that the majority of F class tickets sold on SQ328/327 were sold ex-MAN. Not too sure if we can the bulk of demand was ex-MAN if MUC is going A350.

The numbers I've seen indicate that (in gross numbers only - no class/yield etc) around 55-60% of seats were SIN-MAN and the rest MUC-SIN.

You'd hope for a bump on a direct flight, but it will be interesting to see how the MAN-IAH numbers add up.

It would be interesting to know the trigger for such a route. Were SQ very keen to continue to serve IAH, and MAN happens to be a more convenient en-route stop than Moscow which can provide some useful extra pax and freight? Or, do they regard it as a genuine 3 sector operation: SIN-IAH; MAN-IAH and MAN-SIN?

Maybe I've not put that very well but I hope you get the gist.

SQ do SIN-DME-IAH so they may not be that keen on Moscow with the SIN-IAH performing okay? If we could get the breakdown of SIN-DME DME-IAH and SIN- IAH we could establish why it will change.

My understanding is that loads on the SIN-DME-IAH route fluctuated significantly.

SQ have always preferred to serve markets at least daily. The DME-IAH operation was 5x weekly.

It seemed clear to me that they wanted to find a way to de-link the present MAN/MUC operation and get MAN direct but would have wanted to mitigate the risk of a B77W as MAN filled up 50-60% of the aircraft (I.e. Good but even with a 20% bump maybe not good enough...)

Taking over the IAH tag makes a lot of sense. Hopefully the start of growth for SQ at MAN - it will certainly help them compete with the MEB3, CC and the Chinese carriers.

I've seen on SQ talk and a few other have wondered about 5th freedoms on beyond Manchester, Singapore, UK and US have open skies, meaning SQ can fly any route from Manchester (or indeed UK) onwards to the USA with up to 6th freedom rights.

Might there be scope for further routes to the U.S.? SFO, JFK and LAX are all blatantly going non stop on the A350ULR (SFO is about to on a standard A350).

That parts of the U.S. that are likely to be out of range non stop are states like Texas, Georgia, Florida.

Good to see the pieces falling together and the news leaking to a wider audience.

The amount of scoot chat it pretty concerning - Id only ever heard that SIN-MAN was going non stop, with no mention of Scoot!

The scoot chatter has only started because of that CAPA article, which was stating opinion rather than rumour or fact. The issue is that people seem to be taking it as gospel, but, as I've posted elsewhere, CAPA has made several gaffs when it comes to MAN specific news as it is. Yes, they are reasonably good for some articles, but MAN wise, they seem to literally 'make it up' for the best part.

The encouraging thing is, there is more evidence to suggest the SQ61/62 moving to MAN than there is scoot news.

I do wonder however, are they getting mixed up with NokScoot, as they are apparently interested in BKK-MAN direct and have set up a Manchester address, it could answer some of the confusion as they are the same company, just different strategies/routes?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
