Greybull will "get away with it" simply because they will know the rules inside out and remain just inside them morally absolutely wrong but after all they are venture capitalists/asset strippers or whatever you want to call them, either way they come out on top.

Just the way it is as Churchill said (roughly) "capitalism is not perfect but its the best we have."

Is work still going on in the hangar?, they are in administration aren't they, not liquidation. Surely the administrators will want to complete outstanding work. Perhaps I'm wrong on this.

What will happen to that Norweigan 787 outside the MAEL Hangar ??

More than likely Boeing will send a team when the engines are ready for the 787 and work it outside the hangar. Air malta had corrosion, dont know how far repaired it was before being dumped outside just hours before the administrators came in. Air malta will have to get a concession to fly to another MRO if its airworthy enough to fly or they will have to repair outside the hangar to an extent to fly it to another MRO.
The hangar is empty along with LTN with engineers made redundant only the CAMO dept and training school left. Once they find other organisations to take on the work or sell they will be gone aswell. Greybull trying to get every last penny they can so they can get the 2019 bentley i bet.

Wasn’t there a rumour going round that Flybe wanted to take it over
I'd understood it that Flybe were taking on some of the MAEL staff, not the facilities. I could well be wrong though.

Was the hangar owned or leased by MAEL? I would have thought that the land was owned by BHX so if MAEL owned the hangar would this have been on a leasehold type arrangement?

Convert it into a LOCO terminal
I'd also been wondering about a re-purposing of the facility (although such a shame that an almost brand new maintenance building is not being used for it's intended purpose).
Whilst the building itself is quite large and I assume at least one floor could be added, there is very little apron space for airline operations and also very little parking for passengers.
I think any re-purposing would require daily use to make it economically viable.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
