KLM CITY HOPPER SUMMER 2024 SCHEDULE

KLM City Hopper seem to be making some big changes to the Leeds/Bradford - Amsterdam schedule next summer. Instead of been 4x daily (3x E175 & 1x E190) the service level is been reduced back to 3x daily but passenger capacity is increased with all flights operated by larger aircraft (2x E190 & 1x E295), especially the mid-morning rotation as its scheduled to be operated by the brand-new Embraer 195-E2’s.

The flight numbers are changing, gone are KLM1540-1551 to be replaced by KLM1018-1025.

Always likely given the restrictions at AMS.

Both KLM flights cancelled this morning, pretty normal with KLM I know but I have got to say I don’t think I would ever take the chance of flying with them from LBA in winter if I had a connecting flight at AMS.
I hate going to MAN but its a must if connecting in AMS as you have a far better chance of making your connecting flight.

KLM are normally very reliable. However over the last couple of months they been cancelling quite a few flights. Hopefully this is a temporary situation, it may be linked to the well publicised engine problems. This kind of thing harms their reputation and given so many pax are connecting in AMS it ruins travel plans.

That's a couple of hundred pax- makes you wonder how they will find room for them on KL flights from other airports.

Be easier just to drop an A330 in and take them all in one go

I had a quick look at AMS departures this morning, MME and HUY seemed to be operating. I didnt look in any detail but saw very few cancellations.
It probably was because of the fog forecast at LBA, which duly arrived at breakfast time and resulted in the Aer Lingus from BHD diverting to MAN . The earlier DUB had landed ok, as did the jets using 32 autoland no doubt. The KLMs are pretty poor at getting in during fog events so they probably axed both flights likely to be impacted.

I must admit, my impression is that KLM seem to be cancelling based on weather forecasts recently. Must have been a change in policy as in the past they've tended to at least try to get in.

I can never fathom whether they are just CAT2 or CAT 3 capable. The odd few seem to land in CAT3 conditions but many others divert or are cancelled when you think they should get in OK. Maybe there is a 'mix' in the fleet of CAT 2 & 3 but you would think that unusual.

Agree. They have been good for several years and have supported the connection in AMS frequently to visit family in USA as the prices are competitive. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole right now for a February trip sadly.

There's also the issue as to whether or not the crew are Cat 3 certified, and given that quite a few of our flights are currently operated by German Airways, there's the possibility that their crews are not certified, or their aircraft aren't. Or both.

Europe has also suffered severe weather with even airports like MUC being temporarily closed over the weekend which could also result in crews and equipment being in the wrong place at the wrong time..... the lunchtime flight today has picked up a delay suggesting there are also problems elsewhere too!

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

If you’re tired of takeoffs, you’re tired of life.
49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
