Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Well lets hope that the LBA route is one of those that changes to the E190. I have nothing against the F70, but the E190 is a really nice aircraft - at least it looks it from the ground when I see the Flybe example landing on Sunday afternoon. Or even a mix of the two would be nice, preferably with the E190 staying overnight.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

I would expect to see ther E190 on one of the Leeds rotations within the next 12 months. Passenger figures are steady on the Leeds route but European passenger figures are still down 7%. I would say it will stick with 3 rotations and either the morning or tea time service will see the E190.

If the BRU service goes it will come quicker and KLM with be the only provider of through connections at Leeds.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

The EU has approved the takeover of Brussels Airlines by Lufthansa today. I wonder if this will have any implications on the bmi service to Brussels?

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

It will probably get chopped now to ensure that as many passengers as possible travel from Manchester, which is all that Luftie seem to care about.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

I heard also BRU would be chopped by the end of the year from LBA. Someone else has got to do the route surely, at present its a twice daily service and has steady pax figures as far as im aware.

With regard to Lufthansa, would they not think about operating into LBA, even with some german routes or is their presence at MAN enough for them for this area?

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Bridgepoint have declared Germany to be one of their top priorities, so getting LH into LBA would go a long way to improving the links. One Jet2 flight to Dusseldorf is just not sufficient. LH operate in to Newcastle so they are not completely opposed to using Regional Airports, but with MAN there, they will always think twice about setting up routes into LBA if they think the passengers will use MAN anyway.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Im sure you are aware jet2 used to do HAM too but that got dropped. Now our only connection to Germany as you said is the once daily (except sat) 1800 DUS service.

LH have started up that new Luftie Italia subsidary. Maybe that could come into LBA operating to FRA?

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

lol does it not do Italy - Germany routes as the Subsidary name would suggest

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Air France KLM regional carrier "VLM" has painted a Fokker 50 in full "Cityjet" scheme. Yet no official announcement has come from the group stating the VLM brand will be merged into Cityjet.

KLM update:

6 Embraer 190 aircraft are now in service with KLM cityhopper, 4 further aircraft will be put into operation by the end of December. By start of 2010 only 5 Fokker 100 will be in service with the carrier on a standby basis.

Timetable changes for the winter months see a Fokker 70 staying on the ground for 2 hours from a 1345 arrival, before departing back for Amsterdam @ aprox 1650.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Unfortunately, the link doesnt work for me. Is anyone else having the same problems?

However, i do wonder when LBA will see the Embraer 190's on a regular basis?

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

no plans to put the E190 into LBA just yet, operation to stay 3x fk70 daily through winter into next summer. like the f100 shows up still i am sure the e190 will be in from time to time.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

KLM cityhopper, operates from AMS to various outstations back into AMS only... no other destinations. Unless the AC is on a charter contract.

They will not put on a LBA-CDG, AF/KL Group would use AF Regional or Airlinair subsid to operate this kind of route, Cityjet perhaps. Why on earth would they use a FK70 from a Holland based airline to fly from LBA to CDG? Come on guys.

The current structure of 3X Daily rotations to AMS works just fine for AF/KL group with connections etc, no rush to change it to CDG as AF are still making pleanty of money from the KLM cityhopper operation. Starting a CDG route with connections would make 1 strong connection route with good loads into 2 average ones.

Passenger loads are now picking up but dont expect to see anything to exciting over the winter. AF/KL group have slashed capacity over the entire network and really changed aircraft use, timings and frequency across the board. You will see a return to longer ground times on some rotations and a new range of departure/arrival waves to fit in with new more condensed blocks of connections.

Over the next 12 months, the Fokker 50 will be removed from production and its destinations go onto Fokker 70 fleet and the E190 onto the F100 and some F70 routes and more capacity and rotations should come about once the market is stable.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

Well i suggest someone starts an LBA-CDG topic in the forum because this topic is for realistic, sensible chat & relevant updates about KLM cityhopper bv... not about LBA-CDG operated by a FK70 of KLM cityhopper... which wont happen. Maybe this is one for rumours or general, routes etc.

There is not an argument in this thread about the possability of a LBA-CDG route. It could well happen in the future, its just not on the cards right now.

I just wish some of the conversation was a little more realistic as to how the route would come about instead of people saying KLM cityhopper and Air France are the "same airline on paper"... any man on the street could look at the way in which KLM cityhopper operates and follow the trends over the past 3 years and tell you .. they will not base a KLC FK70 at Leeds or CDG to operate on that route.

Fair point given that the Air France division is a completely separate entity from KLM Cityhopper. There is already a thread named 'Potential Routes' so I have moved the previous posts to that thread.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

As the discussion was leaning towards an Air France operation, further discussions re: a possible future CDG route is better placed in the 'Potential Route Thread'.

Lets leave it at that guys before the testosterone gets the better of someone.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

KLM cityhopper removed its last FK101-620 from service this week. PH-KLI served its last days at the airline still in the old KLM UK / Cityhopper scheme.

Next week, the next E190 arrives via Tenerife. PH-EZH is the 8th of the type and will be joined by a further 2 this year, giving the airline a nice round fleet of ten for the end of the year. A Further 7 will arrive in 2010.

The remaining fokker fleet now consists of 26 Fokker 70, with the last transfer from Air France Regional PH-KZS just last week. Fokker 100 fleet is down to PH-OFA & B, PH-OFD & PH-OFE which will all be removed by the end of the year. The airline will keep PH-OFL,M,N,O & P & these aircraft will under go a cabin refurbishment which will include the removal of seats giving passengers more room & allowing a 2 cabin crew operation.

Re: KLM cityhopper B.V

PH-OFE turned up on the retimed flight yesterday afternoon. Shame there were only 39 on it!!

Does anyone know if we are ever going to see the ERJ's at LBA?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
