What has half of this got to do with Route Development and Rumours?

I'm currently on mobile data only, however I have a mind to move most of the latest posts to other parts if this forum.

If your post is moved you will receive a message to explain where it can now be found.

I do love a good day out that ends with having to don my modetator hat - please let me return to enjoying F4A as it is intended to be.

I apologize Scottie if this latest debate has not been to your enjoyment, and after this post I shall not pursue it any further.

You mean the argument which not one contributor on this forum has been making?
Another straw man argument, I fear. Again, why would a MAN contributor routinely state this line when it could just as easily be thrown at a vacant route ex-MAN such as that to Warsaw Chopin?

So I have been making all this up then.

If there is any post which puzzles you or your messaging contacts, may I invite you to quote it and challenge it at the time. That way your doubts will be addressed directly by the author in a timely manner. If a reader is left confused by what a contributor has written yet doesn't speak up at the time then it is not the contributor's fault if that reader draws a false impression. A nebulous sweeping statement made long after the fact to the effect that you lot are always claiming XYZ ... really doesn't help anyone. Especially with no specific references to analyse.

Once again dismissive. There isn't any confusion when these kinds of posts are made and often someone (jokingly and lightheartedly) points it out. If I'm genuinely confused about a post I do query it. I highly doubt anybody on this site deliberately makes negative comments, but I have raised this issue once before and got no apology but dismissed with a "well you perceived my post wrong - that's on you" response.

I don't hold this against anyone - indeed for 99.9% of the time I enjoy my time on here and would like that to continue.

I shall leave things there so I don't frustrate any more moderators ;)

( One other interesting point was the use of stairs over airbrIidges. It was very telling how much EZY have reisistence to these !)
I saw a photo on twitter not so long ago about Easyjet taking over Air Berlins Berlin TXL to Vienna route and the airport the passengers used an airbridge which was connected to a set of covered steps and then they had to board the aircraft from steps at the front and back.

One other interesting point was the use of stairs over airbrI'd he's. It was telling how much EZY do not like these !

By these are you referring to air bridges? What was the reason they gave - I assume air bridges would be more expensive than stairs, but was just wondering if there was anything more than that?

Don't worry Coathangar it's not that. I just felt that the debate was possibly getting a little 'warm'.

As I have had to read a lot of the contributions on a mobile phone it has possibly not come across to me correctly. I'm in the throes of re-reading all the post on the laptop and may well reconsider my previous suggestion - you see, I'm actually quite amenable to being corrected if a proper agreement is put forward!!

All I'll say is "watch this space".

Okay Guys and Gals. I have had a full reread of all the recent posts on here and have decided that I was possibly a little 'premature' in suggesting that some of these items should be moved.

All that I would request is that we all accept that the views of each person are equally important to them as yours is to you.

So I have been making all this up then.

If you could just directly quote the passages which have caused you such offence there will be no doubt. I'll happily discuss them with you. Then this question doesn't arise.

Once again dismissive. There isn't any confusion when these kinds of posts are made

What posts? All we are asking is that you quote the offending text. Otherwise we're all feeling our way in the dark. I can neither dismiss nor discuss posts which I can't find.

I have raised this issue once before and got no apology

If you can quote the post concerned perhaps an apology will follow. But first we need to read the text which has offended you. Which post(s) do you request an apology for?

Going back to earlier posts re LOT and Warsaw.
Does anyone recall when, and for how long, LOT operated from MAN previously? Was it the 90's or the next decade?
And was it a daily service?

LOT served MAN over many years. Charters ran at first (in the '70's/'80's) using IL18's and TU134's ... and not just to Warsaw either. I recall recommending the services to a (Polish) teacher who presumed he had to use LHR! There was a large ex-pat Polish community who used the flights back then. The first bona fide scheduled service was a twice weekly TU134 which eventually gave way to B734/735 equipment (IIRC). I think there may have been a gap in service before a nightstopper E145 operation was introduced. This was present most nights - 5 or 6 times per week?

Yes, I remember the night stopper now. Disappointing that they've withdrawn the slot applications for this summer. 3 x weekly from Ryanair does seem a bit thin, and yet when I've looked at the CAA stats for the route, pax figures have often shown a reduction from the same month in the previous year. Are they flying to the wrong airport in Warsaw?

I think the 90s...using a 737 from memory. It was the only time I've been to Poland. I have never flown on any Russian equipment....I wouldnt had minded a try, but when I went probably too late for that. TU154 OR IL62 would have been fun : -)

I'll report back with (anecdotal) loads after my next trip afew weeks from now.

Now there's a question! The dispute between Ryanair / Wizz Air and PPL, the state agency which operates Chopin Airport, has become so bitter that a complaint has been made to the EU competition authorities. Meanwhile, PPL is reported to be using underhand tactics to force the either closure of Modlin or ceding of its control to them. There is a very interesting blow-by-blow account of all this on the 'Warsaw Modlin' thread at a well-known fruity forum near you.

According to a post on "the other forum" we have El Al flights to Manchester showing in the Tel Aviv airport timetables on Thursday/Sunday from July 1.

YES, on the latest information that I received that is the planned start date - although this appears to be about the 3rd version!

Well i’ve really enjoyed the discussions on here over the last couple of days, plenty of well informed comments from people, about the probability of new routes to Eastern European destinations in particular.
So, if I may ask, what do members think about the possibility’s of flights to India being started from Manchester in the near future.
There have been lots of rumours flying about, some promising, some not quite so.
Would be interesting to read what people think about the the likelihood of this happening in the near future.

India is impossible to say.Jet looked before choosing Brussels. Air India were very close a few years ago. Scoot have had discussions. SpiceJet set up flight details this year. Latest movements are Jet/Virgin. People talk about indigo and vistara. In the meantime TCX and TUI have started Goa. Could end up with multiple carriers, could end up with none.

Qatar are looking to launch an Indian airline with up to 100 aircraft. Could that be added to the list of airlines that could potentially serve India from MAN?

Their recent "take over" and re-branding of Meridiana into Air Italy has a large focus of long haul so I wouldn't be surprised if this Indian airline has a large long haul section.

I'd have thought Virgin Atlantic and Jet Airways would be the most likeliest candidate. With that combination you'd have feed on the Indian side and if Virgin can include Flybe feed on the Manchester side as well.

Routesonline carried an interview with the Jet chairman who said tvey may add other Uk points 'if demand is robust enough'. With MAN-India meant to be the 6th biggest market in Europe, i would say its sooner rather than later for someone to start up.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
