Not intended as an answer to the above - timing of this update here is unrelated. But Ryanair's new subsidiary MALTA AIR will be taking over some services seen at MAN. I have received an advisory informing me that Malta Air will be operating my MAN-CGN trip in July (originally booked as Ryanair). My December [Ryanair] trip MAN to Katowice [KTW] has already been notified as a BUZZ operation. And Laudamotion has been mentioned as a possible future operator to Riga - a current Ryanair destination. So hopefully MAN can look forward to a good level of representation from Ryanair's subsidiary brands in the near future.

Can I refer you to my post under "Wet summer, but maybe a sunnier winter".

Reference is made in there to Alitalia (a returning flag carrier) and there are a number of new routes mentioned as well - although some are tweaks of existing services.

As to longhaul, it depends whether you want to include Spice as a new carrier?

Any speculation as to what it is?
I'd imagine that the flag carrier is Alitalia as they have recently started at Edinburgh.
Long haul wise maybe a Chinese carrier or Thai? Maybe either the Ryanair subsidiary airlines taking over routes or maybe an someone like Air Baltic?

I’d say returning flag carrier could be any of Alitalia, Aeroflot or LOT

Long haul Thai and or even Air India ( falls into the flag carrier territory as well)

Certainty with you there scotty dog . Remember waiting with my farther one friday evening for the charter division SAM Caravelle to arrive from Rimini as a nipper before getting the last 44 to Northenden !

For much of the seventies they only visited with their three cargo DC9-33F frames in the early mornings

Alitalia have been on off on off since a think around the late 60s . Hell they even had one of carved plaques in the left hand side of the Terminal !

And for twenty years or so the 6 weekly Milan and Sunday Rome services were jointly flown with the local BAC1-11-510s of a certain other national carrier.

Dual coded and under then prevalent pooling arrangements.

Rather more than today’s alliance codeshares these were true revenue shares across the majority of the European flag carriers of the day

Flag carrier, possibly Thai, seeing as there have been rumbles about that for a while now... Long haul, was something rumoured from Juneyao? Jury still out on the short haul stuff, will have to jiggle the old brain cells for that one! Still, it's going to be interesting!

Whether the poster is correct or not apparently LEVEL will start Salzburg to Manchester.

I would think that if Level were to start service to Manchester it would be as part of a base opening at Salzburg - they currently operate only a single weekly summer seasonal flight to Corsica. It feels a bit short notice for that?

Spicejet already have slots for Manchester from October but to be honest don`t mind who it is. Virgin are
also linked very closely with Indian traffic transiting MAN and may even start themselves

Yes SpiceJet have applied for, and been granted, slots for the last 28 months or so but have always handed them back due to lack of equipment.

This year it might happen as I believe they are taking some of the Jet Airways (deceased) aircraft. If I hear anything I'll let you know.

Apologies if discussed elsewhere but has MAN lost all direct flight links to Stuttgart? Looking for end July but can't see any options unless sold out or seasonal? Am sure there used to be quite frequent direct flight?

Ryanair ended Stuttgart (and Nuremberg) earlier this year. It looks like they're dropping Frankfurt in October as well. Not a great year for travelling to Germany.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
