Summer 2017

"We have discussed elsewhere what the potential increase in traffic for next summer might be.

From data that I have seen the following MIGHT happen:

ATM (Passenger & Freight) - plus 15.5%
Available seats - 26,853,919"

Scottie Dog, do I take it this is derived from the initial slot applications for s2017? It's certainly an encouraging start, although we'll have to see what happens with slot hand-backs by the end of January. Presumably, after that, ACL will produce their start of summer report.

Of course, it's always possible new slot applications are submitted in the meantime.

Cathay A350 daily would be a superb development and one we have been waiting for for an extremely long time.

If CX and HU could go daily both next year, this would be a great year in my opinion, regardless of the WY/CA possible launches.

Well I hope that those proposed Hainan Airlines changes mean that afew of them will land after sunrise. My camera has been sulking all summer!

3 new airlines to Palma next summer. When will that route reach the tipping point I wonder?

Pretty sure this has been said previously but worth repeating. From the A350-1000 maiden flight:

http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-n...11-24/airbus-a350-1000-completes-first-flight

"The largest of the new three-member family of composite-bodied airliners, the A350-1000 measures some 240 feet long and carries 366 passengers in a typical three-class configuration. Powered exclusively by 97,000-pound-thrust Rolls-Royce Trent XWB 97 turbofans, its range extends 7,950 nautical miles, allowing it to support routes for emerging markets such as Shanghai-Boston or Paris-Santiago, as well as more traditional flight segments as Manchester-Los Angeles or Dubai-Melbourne."

Doubtful any US airline would operate it on our route. BA would seek to use them on routes not needing A380s where they currently operate 744s but Virgin...?

Much as I'm energised by our oriental friends the biggest news for me is Flybe.

A 60% increase is half as many flights AGAIN AND REALLY reinforces the high frequency which in turn will attract other airlines re connectivity.

That said where are the planes coming from ?

If they are redeployed if so where from.

Birmingham ?
Doncaster ?

Or maybe a cash injection for new frames from an MEB ?

6 DHC8 still to be delivered according to wiki (it states that is accurate as of this month)

Of course some of the movements could be away based, as a lot of Manchester is currently I'm lead to believe.

It's not specifically Palma that's the big news, it's more of an encasement of general good news coming our way.

Put it this way barring any disasters, 30m passengers should be pretty achievable.

Wow, long haul or short haul and, in addition to daily PEK/HKG and PVG/MCT launches?

Also, do you know anything about CX supposedly going daily and an update on HU? I know you stated earlier that PVG would launch in May.

All will come Ethan, have patience.

I'm not being as 'fast and loose' with my info as I usually am at the moment, I need to see things pan out a little first so will haive a heads up about route launches a few days before if I can.

Great thank you, though are there going to be route announcements pre 2017 or will they be after, to the best of your knowledge?

I'm intrigued but I cannot for the life of me see us achieving 30m in 2017 which seemed to be the implication ?

Of course 30m is doable in the next 3 -5 years subject to the economy but we would "probably " achieve that through natural growth anyway !

So fir some fun let's speculate re a "big bang".

Norwegian - if it's them, and that seems to be the "type" of significant growth required to meet this suggestion , well hang on is that not going to impact on other services ?

BA "A dream or nightmare" they come back get into bed with Flybe and bang national airline and a high frequency UK hub BUT with a massive effect on MEBs etc.

Etihad buy into Flybe and become Flybe becomes a pseudo EtihadUK again impacts elsewhere.

I really can't see what would add an additional 2.5 - 3m at one go that generates passengers out of thin air.

I'm probably wrong and usually am :)

Going to stick this here for the time being.... Titan is to operate weekly to Zadar in Croatia on behalf of Neilson Holidays from 28th May (flight numbers ZT582/583)

Aces.

We should finish the year at 25.5 million pax.

ACL reporting an average uplift of 15.3% increase, that takes us to 29.4m

We always seem to be just ahead of the curve on the ACL so 30m is possible, it will be tough, but it will be possible.

It's not just about one single announcement, it's a culmination of several announcements.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
