It's massive Dobbo and yes good point re The middles Easter visitors as well
I had forgotten about that article.

...odd that from the west visitors SE London, London and London and little else. I mean it's good but not that good.
The prices are outrageous and as for getting on the tube no thanks. Transport down there meltdown. I know the metro has its moments but at least your not 200 metres underground crammed in bare able to breathe, forget that !

Could we see MAN-EWR, BOS with a 738M and FLL with a 788 next year?

How is it going User - still likely and if so for when next year?

Cyprus Airways looking an extremely likely candidate next year, possibly from PFO or LCA. From routesonline:

'The ‘new’ Cyprus Airways is set to launch flights as early as early as this month with an initial fleet of two Airbus A319s. It plans to operate flights from both Larnaca and Paphos to destinations in Greece, Russia and the UK where it is understood to be seeking to fly to London Stansted, Manchester and Glasgow.'

Any more info on this? It is widely reported that they will release their schedule soon so perhaps we will have another Cypriot REG gracing the tarmac?

I think the Norwegian PR article refers to this ?

I don't know whether it's the airline, media or online community, but Norwegian seem to be one of the rate airlines that over promise and under deliver.

It may be part of their lobby to gain acess to the North American market, but I cannot think of another major airline that so regularly has press stating that they are launching XXX-YYY and nothing then happens.

In the UK their focus seems quite squarely to be on LGW, with MAN, EDI and BHX afterthoughts.

London is the largest aviation market in earth so this is understandable, but why make a rod for your own back unless you have no intention of delivering.

Yes, there seems to be plans afoot to run the MAX to JFK from MAN. They have also planned to base 5/6 aircraft (including 2xB788) at MAN. These things take time, and Norwegian are experiencing a lot of resistance to their plans from the US3 lobby and at MAN would face direct competition from TCX and VS (possibly BA in future?).

There has to come a point where they wind their neck in a little and understand the difficult position they are placing themselves in if they continue to over promise and under deliver.

With 4 737MAX to be based at Stewart (for New York) and 2 at Providence (for Boston) and throw in the idea that for them "Norwegian’s expansion plans at Manchester are only at the beginning.", I'd be a bit disappointed if we were not in the frame for a route or 2 in the next year or so.

Agreed, but I can remember being in this position last year.

Things are slowly clicking into place but it only takes one thing not to fall into place and you cannot start anything.

They got some great FREE publicity again today in the Telegraph. A UK paper less we forget.
Load of input re London and LGW ......and what of EDI MAN ?
er NO , but Cork !

Sombody is on a retainer

But it may not be BOS or EWR. They are going to setup a MAX base at Stewart International Airport which is 60 miles north of Manhattan up the Hudson river and instead of BOS they could fly into Rhode Island instead. It'll a bit like Ryanair classing Girona as Barcelona!

“This is for real,’’ said Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus. “The county has been working with the Port Authority on this for six, nine months – it’s got a lot of moving parts - and we’re very confident we’re finally going to see the ‘international’ in Stewart International Airport....

Neuhaus said he understands Norwegian will offer 21 flights a week between Stewart and England, Scotland, Ireland and Norway using Boeing’s new 737 Max"

So BHX or MAN? LGW ruled out as they are going double daily to JFK

It will be interesting to see how it works out at an outer airport - the next step in the "Ryanairisation" of the long haul market.

The Middle Eastern Network from UK airports
MAN now has an extremely sizeable network to the Middle East for an airport of it's size, serving 'directly', not non-stop, Baghdad, Sulmainyah, Jeddah, Tel Aviv, Muscat, Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi. With Erbil and Basra being aspirations for Iraqi airways and IKA/BEY/AMM (to a lesser extent) being blatantly obvious omissions, I have put them on the map in blue.

MAN: 8 destinations either confirmed or served

LHR: Kuwait, Bahrain, Riyadh, Jeddah, Amman, Beirut, Tel Aviv, Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Tehran and Muscat.
12 destinations served - 4 more than MAN. For an LHR/MAN combination that is pretty good!

BHX: Dubai, Doha, Ashgabat

3 destinations with a nice niche route of ASB!

So, being realistic, in a couple of years, MAN's ME network could look something like this:

And, technically, Medina was served this year with Saudia for a short period and whether Aquaba will happen again next year remains to be seen.

Okay, thanks, got one in that isn't actually served and missed out one that is.

I thought MON might have served it, should've checked that out!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
