Very important gateway for cargo almond to the point that passenger service's have been forgotten about a little FR from a growth point of view.Same goes for another MAG airport Stansted not as much pure cargo goes through the airport as EMA however a substantial amount still does and it seems to be getting busier by the year.

Amazon are planning on starting operations from Leipzig I wonder if Stansted would fit the bill as another potential European hub suspect that the competition at EMA is already to fierce.

Both are well worth a spotting trip too as they certainly get some interesting movements Stansted especially.

Police: Plane spotting is not essential travel​

Airport Police in the East Midlands have recently issued fines to plane spotters at East Midlands Airport (EMA/EGNX) after finding them at the airport, some having travelled over 50 miles to get there.
In the last 10 days, 2 people have been issued £200 fines for breaching COVID guidelines by going to the airport to spot planes from as far afield as Rotherham and Mansfield.
On social media, East Midlands Airport said: “Another covid fine issued to a male found @EMA_Airport this evening after travelling from Mansfield to watch planes. £200 fine for watching a plane…is it worth it? Regular patrols being conducted and you may find yourself fined if breaching the current covid restrictions.”
Elsewhere, other forces including Avon & Somerset Police and South Wales Police have warned that plane spotting is not essential to travel and the guidelines say you must stay local. The forces say they have had to speak to a number of people to remind of the rules and have a policy of educating rule-breakers before issuing fines.

It appears to be due to drones being flown at the Download Festival at Donnington.

People really need to be more aware of the surroundings before they consider their desires to film from the air. Also, when I was younger I'm sure it was just known as the Donnington Festival.

East Midlands Airport to stand trial after allegedly polluting River Trent with de-icer​

East Midlands International Airport Ltd will stand trial next year accused of polluting a river with de-icer.

The airport is facing a prosecution from the Environment Agency following a campaign by an angling group.

The company is alleged to have polluted the River Trent and the nearby Diseworth Brook after using de-icer on its planes and runway.

The airport has a permit to release waste water, but is accused of breaching the permit by causing sewage fungus outbreaks.

Defence counsel Jim Buchanan, on behalf of the airport, pleaded not guilty to six charges – including causing a water discharge activity and alleged failures to comply with an environmental permit between 2021 and 2022.

The airport’s managing director, Steve Griffiths, attended Derby Crown Court on Thursday but was not required to speak during proceedings.

East Midlands Airport, based in Castle Donington, is now set to stand trial on 19 May next year. 🙄

During the period 27 July 2026 to 15 November 2026 the South Atlantic airbridge which is operated by AirTanker with one of the Voyager A330s will move to East Midlands due to work on the runway at RAF Brize Norton.

The airbridge operates twice weekly currently with route RAF Brize Norton->RAF Ascension Island->RAF Mount Pleasant and return. This route serves military, civil service, contractors, Falklands residents, and visitors to ASI and MPN.
