Where on Earth do you get those numbers from Andy (I'm guessing by '11,600', you mean 11,600,000 and similar for the other low numbers)? While Flybe are still growing their airline and network, Air France and Turkish are firmly established, handling 18658 and 11941 pax respectively in Nov 22.

There are no words... its entertaining to read though if nothing else! maybe your efforts should be focused on the lottery numbers for saturday night rather than the so for unexplained dip in pax numbers in 2026 which appear to have no basis?

"...when no major new routes have been announced..."?!?!?!? Can you please tell me what planet you live on....

Off the top of my head i can think of 30 new routes that have been placed on sale in the last 12 months alone:

Ryanair 9x new routes (GRO, PSA, VCE, BLL, GNB, ARN, TLS, SDP, BOD)
Easyjet 6x new routes (NAP, LIS, MXP, NTE, FAO,PMI)
Flybe 8x new routes (ABZ, AMS, AVN, BHD, EGC, BES, EDI, GLA)
Sun Express 3x new routes (AYT, ADB, DLM)
Jet2 1x new route (NCE)
Aegean 1x new route (ATH)
Aer Lingus 1x new route (BHD)
Emirates – Expanding from 777 to 380
Air India – Increasing schedule on 2 to 6x weekly

All in the last 12 months.... What Major New Routes are you expecting?!

I genuinely have no idea what you're saying, what your point is, and what you are basing your perspective on....

ONLY FOUR UK airports have direct scheduled flights to the USA, only 2 outside London - Manchester and Edinburgh. Even Manchester has a significant few list of USA destinations served that it had in past years. BFS, BRS, GLA, BHX have all lost their only USA scheduled links, its not as if BHX is the only airport to lose them.

You can focus all you like on (what i feel to be completely unrealistic) dreams of BHX getting USA links ANY time in the next few years, id much rather take new/improved links to the Middle East, South Asia, China which are more realistic and have much faster growing economies than the USA ANYDAY... i also look forward to improved and hopefuly fruitful and growing relationships between BHX and the low-cost and regional partners! Thats where the growth is... not the USA!

Assuming Emirates flights today are 2 class configuration, that will give a total of 1708 seats. That's 5.7% of today's pax.

still a few gaps in the CAA passenger data for 2022 however.

Istanbul is showing no passengers in May, despite Turkish operating 44 inbound flights, and 44 outbound flights!
Zurich is also wrong, no passengers for May/June/July? - despite 56 inbound & 56 outbound flights.

so possibly 22,000 extra passengers to be added, i've email the CAA about it, will be interesting if I get a response!
