Thanks Ray. Remember my last Thomas cook flight to Marsa Alam on the 25h June this year. Seems a distance memory but it shows how quickly the unthinkable happened 3 months later. The picture was taken on the A321.

It's the new year folks, a time when we all start thinking of our summer holidays. The hot sun burning our skin and the smell of barbeques and sun cream wafting in the air.

So with that in mnd I am currently looking on the Jet2/Jet2 holidays website for my annual trip to Gran Canaria at the end of August 2020.

Looks like it will be Jet2 at the moment, package holidays you can trust.

I will keep you all informed of my findings.

Oh yes I have been there many times, I love the whole island. It is a lovely place. Would love to spend a Christmas in Gran Can and get away from it all. It really does irritate me sometimes all the fuss we make and it is getting worse.

Watch out if you have a short transfer at dublin on the return sector as they tend to leave your bags in dublin like they did with us last year coming home from miami, there were several passengers whose bags were left in dublin and returned the next day.

As part of my 10 day Jet2 Holidays trip to Gran Canaria in August, I have decided to do some island hopping for 1 day only.

I am flying over to Tenerife North TFN to do a day of plane spotting.

Total cost £45 GBP

Never been on a ATR Turboprop before, soooooo excited.

When I checked Binter Canaria they were coming out near £100 but then I remember seeing this airline on the tarmac at Las Palmas last year who are a competitor to Binter and as you can see they were quite a bit cheaper.

I booked some Binter inter Canary’s flights 3 months before flying & pretty much any segment from anywhere was €50 in the cheapest (promo?) class
Canary fly do not offer as many routes
Air Europa express ..... I gave up trying to even check via their website

Watch out if you have a short transfer at dublin on the return sector as they tend to leave your bags in dublin like they did with us last year coming home from miami, there were several passengers whose bags were left in dublin and returned the next day.

For those that have travelled to the USA with Aer Lingus just how beneficial was the US pre-clearance in Dublin?

We're potentially heading that way next year and I can't decide between EI from BHX or biting the bullet and going to LHR for a Virgin A350

For those that have travelled to the USA with Aer Lingus just how beneficial was the US pre-clearance in Dublin?

I used it last year and found it to be a bit of a pain for me.
After arriving from Cardiff I had to go through another security check then wait until my flight was called to go to pre clearance where you go through another security checkpoint before queuing for quite a while to go through immigration.
Yes you have the bonus of being domestic when you get to the other side but to me it still was a lot of hassle compared to my usual route via Amsterdam. Oh and Aer Lingus lost my luggage! Both there and back!
And I don't know if it was just the guy I got but I found immigration to be less friendly in Dublin than when I arrive in the US.

To be honest Ray in our experiences it's pot luck we have entered the U.S.A.through five different points and it seems to depend on the individual immigration officer, some are as nice as pie others are miserable gits.

Either way it takes a bit of time but at least your luggage is waiting unless your Jerry of course!

The experience for me wasn't the best. It hasn't compelled me to want to use it again. It'll either be from Cardiff via Amsterdam or London Heathrow for me on my next trip.
I will say though that the flights with Aer Lingus were pretty good.

Whereabouts in the US? I can’t speak for the pre-clearance at DUB but going via AMS is seamless. It’s just the immigration que when you get there but you’d have that with Virgin anyway.
