Norwegian Air Shuttle

They also said that BHX would see expansion 'depending on aircraft deliveries' to there could still be issues to sort out.

Ryanair have released their summer programme, Easyjet release March - June on Thursday so hopefully Norwegian won't be too far behind, although it's a good point about TFS and LPA being released late.

well Ryanair have not completely released their summer schedule yet (no press release etc. as their are still gaps to be filled) and as you say, easyjet comes out on Thursday. The next few weeks should shed some light...

in the meantime, we have Wizz launching Warsaw on Monday and Budapest Tuesday to keep you interested until then! they surely have a summer schedule to announce soon????

I totally forgot about Wizz starting on Monday 😀

They have BHX - BUD on sale for next year, still at 2x weekly but with much better timings (see the Wizz thread). Warsaw isn't on sale as yet.

After their arrival at BRS they didn't have to wait too long before another couple of new routes came along, I hope BHX is as lucky

Youve gone abit Norweigan crazy if im being honest, sorry only kidding 😆

I also think we need to remember that Norweigan didint lauch any BHX routes until December last year so it may not be in the next few weeks. If we are to get a base i would expect an announcemnet by the end of October but if we dont have a base and we see expansion from away based aircraft, it could well be as late as December again.

😆

I think we all have 😀

After years of relative stagnation at BHX there finally seems to be some promise. Both Wizz and Norwegian offer opportunities of significant growth and I really don't want BHX to revert to type and nause it up!

I'm also patiently waiting to book flights for August 2016 and am hoping to use Norwegian (if we see some new routes that is) :s_yes

One place I've never been to is Portugal so I'm hoping they start Faro, if not then Monarch are an option.

I'm not really stuck on one particular destination and I do fancy trying out Norwegian (aswell as supporting the new arrivals) so I'll see what happens, if something good comes up it may be elsewhere.

well I also remember when certain members in this forum were speculating in April that MAD was likely to end up being a 1 season wonder. Now MAD looks to be heading into its 3rd season and have been offering very promising loads...

We all want BHX to do well, we just cant let it make us crazy (anymore than normal)...

Also, its worth noting the world routes conference is in 2 weeks, maybe another reason to delay route announcements?! pure speculation but hey, what do I know!

There's lots of routes now showing on the route map from BHX. Nothing direct at the moment with most available via Madrid or Barcelona with the others showing not available. Hopefully a sign that something is about to happen.

I've looked at the routes and all appear to be connections.

Some bonkers ones though, like BHX-AGP-HAM. Who is going to go to Malaga to transfer to Hamburg?!

It's a step in the right direction though! Most of those routes are candidates for a BHX based aircraft, barring a few of the more obscure Scandinavian cities. For example, if BHX struggles with the obvious Oslo and Stockholm, I don't think Trondheim would work somehow.

well if nothing else, it shows that they are updating their website, maybe in anticipation of a next years schedule. It had always occurred to me that BHX and Cologne are the only 2 European destinations that did not include routes to the Scandinavian bases, and as such showed no connections, but with all the routes being bases in spain, why no other connections were shown (I.e via Spanish bases) confused me.

here's hoping with these updates, we might be on the cusp of some more news....

Now I'm home I've had a look through.

Only some are connections, albeit very dubious ones, for instance Birmingham to Stockholm requires an overnight in Barcelona outbound and inbound routes via Malaga. Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Hamburg and Stavanger all see similar.

Bergen and Warsaw only show once weekly connections outbound with nothing inbound. Cologne, Fuerteventura and Munich only have a once weekly connections inbound with nothing outbound.

Dubrovnik, Catania, Nice, Malta, Berlin and Gothenburg have nothing available whatsoever with Nice showing as 'route only available until October 2015'.

My thoughts too.

Of the others without connections Nice, Malta and Dubrovnik were amongst the rumoured new routes and Catania is one of the destinations still showing as 'airline TBA' on the Thomson website.

Looks like they'll be adding a Scandinavian service with connections, when they have got the database fully loaded.
That doesn't come as much of a surprise but it's exactly what we all want :s_yes

Any chance of there being more than one Scandinavian route? I know I might sound greedy but they are showing more than one route as a connection, with Aalborg, Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki all there!

I'd say Oslo is most likely, it's their biggest base with the most transit opportunities. Stockholm could be an option but some of those routes listed aren't available from ARN. I'd like to see Gothenburg back at some point.

Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

Just seen this on facebook, also is this one of you guys, its not me.

Question = Will your S16 schedule for new routes from Birmingham be announced shortly? Are you also establishing a base at Birmingham?

Answer= We do have a base at Birmingham, not all summer 2016 schedules have been announced yet. Will be more released over the coming weeks.

Not me Bud, I don't get replies anymore 🙄

I don't normally like to get my hopes up until I hear something official but I'm starting to get a twinge of excitement with this one. Some new routes would be fantastic but a base, even a single aircraft to start, would round off a quite spectacular twelve months

I can just see it now, some norweigan guy in Oslo (Norweigan facebook office) saying to his colleague with a frown " Its that bloody Ray finkle geezer again from the UK" he is really really trying to get me to spill the beans but i just aint gonna do it, he will have to wait and be patient. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
