Norwegian Air Shuttle

indeed, but we've not hear anything about any new bases anywhere from Norwegian.

The point I would get worried is when they list a number of new bases for either 2016 and 2017 and either a) BHX isn't on that list or b) other uk airports are!!

I think that would pretty much signal game over.

If we'd heard through an official channel that they were planning a BHX base, then they changed their minds then I think we'd all be gutted, as it is we're going purely on rumours (which are so often wide of the mark) so I guess any growth has to be good news?

After years of stagnation from Ryanair and Easyjet ignoring us we seem to be frustratingly close to finally getting a decent based loco with intentions to grow. I just hope they manage to do it.

I don't understand their booking engine at the moment. On the face of it you would have thought that the new destinations added are simply connections, then you see that the connections offered are routings such as BHX - Stockholm via Malaga? It could just simply be an anomaly in their system that links any two city pairs no matter how dubious the routing, but, that doesn't explain why Dubrovnik, Nice, Malta, Catania, Warsaw, Berlin, Fuerteventura, Gothenburg and Warsaw were added, with no connections whatsoever!

I don't know if someone has made a bit of a balls up or whether it's an attempt of sorts to mask new routes before they're added.

Nice has now disappeared from the drop down list and as a shown connection on the route map. It was the one route which was showing 'flights only available until 22nd October', which is today.

Still no wiser about their intentions :dunno:

Its gonna be soon Ray, now that airlines like Ryanair are announcing there S16 routes and we are fast approaching November.

I wait with anticipation.

My wish list for a new NAX BHX base would be 2 x 737.800s and 1 x 787.800 (To start with)

With thanks to TheLocalYokel Norwegian will be operating a weekly TFS flight to Cardiff on behalf of Thomson.

There was a suggestion that Norwegian would be doing some of the TOM flying from BHX in 2016 and although the last based aircraft mainly has TOM codes now there are still some flights showing 'airline TBA', with the Tuesday TFS flight one of them.

Just been on the website and none of the TFS or LPA flights are sold out yet. I imagine they'll be more popular come next summer.

I know Evelop operate for Thomas Cook but were Germania, Corendon and Travel Service operating for one of our airlines, and will they come back next year?

To be honest i wouldnt expect the flights to be sold out yet. Dont forget Monarch, Ryanair, Thomson and TCX all serve TFS/LPA

Plus at once weekly for LPA it's hardly an attractive schedule.

Germania operated for Thomson I believe and should be doing ski flights over the winter. Correndon and Travel Service were both for Thomas Cook, I've not seen if they'll be back next year.

Apparently Norwegian are looking at starting flights to India in the future and BHX-BOM is a potential route if they can/do.

This was the rumour in August and now the CEO seems to have said as much.

There would be a particular focus on India because of the country’s improving economy, rising population and family links to Britain.

“When the salaries come up in India you will see a huge flow of tourists or people visiting friends and relatives in the UK,” said Kjos. “You are talking about almost 1.5 billion people and you will see great flows of passengers very soon.”

The airline would initially target routes to Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta. Flights could arrive into both Gatwick and Birmingham in the future, he said.

No wonder AI seem to be getting twitchy.

South Africa is also mentioned but it just says UK and not specifically BHX so you'd assume LGW would be first.

Norwegian Air poised to be granted UK operating licence

Hi Ray
This CEO talks a lot lets hope some of his plans actually happen. I'd be happy with a short-haul base first
Darren

Hi mate, I'd be happy with that too

There has been rumblings that BHX - India may be on the cards with Norwegian for a while but I think this is the first time that the CEO has said it. Mumbai and Calcutta would be excellent additions, would they also do Delhi and compete with Air India?

It would also likely mean a 787 being used as I think the MAX would require a stop en route, Dubai possibly? The article states a 2017 start, BHX also confirmed that they were in discussions with an operator about routes to the USA and Caribbean but they wouldn't start until 2017?

I hope it all comes together

I think the 787 would be the obvious option especially seeing as services that stop in Europe en route to BHX have such a poor history (Hellenic Imperial, anyone?).

Its just a good sign when a CEO of an airline mentions BHX.

Remember the quote from the CEO of Qatar, well it took a while but we got there

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
