Norwegian Air Shuttle

Madrid 3x weekly
Malaga 3x weekly
Barcelona 2x weekly (surprisingly low to my mind)
Tenerife 2x weekly
Gran Can. 1x weekly

That's now 11 weekly flights in S16 compared to 8 weekly flights in S15. OK this isn't the growth I think many of us hoped for but its growth nonetheless. That represents growth of 38% year on year so they can still claim they would be the fastest growing airline at BHX next years ;o) Lets hope these more to come before Xmas. Remember this time last year, we had no clue Norwegian were planning to serve BHX!!!

Schedule so far, Thursday is DY day....

Monday
• Malaga
• Tenerife

Tuesday
• Madrid

Wednesday
• (No Flights)

Thursday
• Barcelona
• Gran Canaria
• Madrid

Friday
• Malaga
• Tenerife

Saturday
• Malaga

Sunday
• Barcelona
• Madrid

Great to see some movement from Norweigan, i have one ask for DY if thet are not going to announce a base or even loads more routes, please please please will you give us a dIrect flight between BHX and Oslo, Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, pretty please. 😀

Barcelona now up to 3x weekly from April with a new Tuesday flight added :good:

Edited to add that we now have five departures to Barcelona on Tuesdays with Norwegian added to Vueling, Monarch and two from Ryanair. Over the peak season Barcelona will see 25 weekly flights with Ryanair having 9, Vueling 7, Monarch 6 and Norwegian 3.

Along with Madrid it will be an interesting one to watch.

Rather than make big announcements, they are a slowly evolving presence at BHX it appears....

Madrid 3x weekly
Malaga 3x weekly
Barcelona 3x weekly
Tenerife 2x weekly
Gran Can. 1x weekly

Total = 12 weekly Departures which makes them the largest of the new locos with Wizz at 11 weekly departures and Vueling at 10 weekly departures.... Norwegian alone representing a 50% increase in capacity for Summer 16 compared to Summer 15 :O).. we just need a new route from them now!

Have Norwegian released any new route announcements from any base yet? All I have seen are frequency upgrades on existing routes.

no new bases for a while, and no new routes from the UK other than Gatwick.... hopefully, BHX will be in the forefront of their minds when that changes....

I don't think even Gatwick has seen any new routes within Europe, it's mainly been long haul expansion to the US.

Monarch added Lisbon and Madrid very late for an early June start and as we know Norwegian tend to lag behind, so it's still not too late for them to add something to start around the same time.

Good to see Norweigan add an extra flight at BHX, as you all say they are slowly expanding at BHX. Maybe they are taking the cautious approach before commiting anything better. And whilst they keep adding frequency, this can only be a good cautious sign that they are interested in BHX for something much bigger in the future. Whilst I was booking my LPA flight yesterday it is still 1 x weekly at the moment but I expect them to add another LPA very soon, especially with the uncertain travel arrangements for Egypt and Turkey. Spain and the Canaries are going to be busy busy this summer, probably the busiest they have been for years.

Gran Canaria will be 2x weekly from October with an extra Sunday flight added :good:

This is good news Ray, Norweigan slowly building there BHX base. Rather annoyingly today though on the front of the Metro (Which is a great morning newspaper)they have Norweigan on the front page advertising there fares from £29.99, but no mention of there flights from BHX, only LGW. :reallyshocked:

Thank goodness I have told everybody about them via my facebook page after I had booked my flight, somebody even asked me if I was on commission, 😆

So new base(s) are starting to be announced by Norwegian! Maybe there will be some closure on the rumours to who may get a base in the uk.

Hi there nwoody2001, let's hope that Birmingham is one of new Uk bases that Norweign Airshuttle announces, because this will mean further expansion of existing routes, plus also, hopefully any announcevents of any urgent direct long haul destinations that Birminghams been waiting to hear about, plus also there commitment to Birmingham, unlike what British Airways did all those years ago when it's just pulled it's total operation out of Birmingham, which left a massive gap to fill over the years. As well as that, any of the up and coming routes conferences in America, then Europe and rest of the world, this is where Birmingham needs to attend every one of these conferences to let every airline that not serving to network with Birmingham and to get even more carriers in than before, so those passenger numbers will just keep going through the roof year in, year out....let's just wait and see... Norwegian next three bases are in Europe, it is hopefully BHX may get a route to one or more of these new bases.

Lets hope they reconsider a BHX base in 2017

Rumours are Nice and Palma could be the next two bases, flights to either from BHX would be welcome.

I've also seen it suggested (on a Luton thread) that Paris - Orly was to be a base but they couldn't secure the slots. Apparently flights to Luton were applied for.

Hi there ray and everyone, regarding my previous post, let's hope that if and when Birmingham is selected as another base for Norweign airshuttle in the UK, hope with further expansion from Norweign Airshuttle either more short haul routes that are still unserved by Birmingham, then hopefully, theyll start then with any direct long haul routes, but we'll just have to wait and see what they decided what to do, you also got to remember what sort of a deal the airport agreed with them as well, if you think about Virgins case, that's a he'll lot of money just to start up a daily, yearly service.. Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
