Is Madrid worth a couple of days, bearing in mind I'd have a 6 year old boy with me?

One option for next year is flying to Madrid, possibly for a day or two, before getting the train to Valencia. It would then be either back to BHX via AMS, or direct to EMA.

Yes. And a great alternative to Barcelona. Take him to see Real. Just like a trip to St Andrews....the airport alone is worth the trip...of you get to use the new terminal that is.

Mon and Wed dropped for S19 with Tue and Thur added. Sun and Fri remain the same so still 4x weekly :)

It would be nice to see it go 6x weekly.

Does that now mean some of the flights operate on different days to Ryanair instead of being the same - i.e. is it now possible to fly BHX - MAD any day of the week? Or at least more days of the week.

Ryanair is only bookable up until March at the moment but if their schedule remains unchanged then there should be flights to Madrid every day except Saturday.

But does anybody actually know the difference ?
Here's a quote copy/pasted from the FlyerTalk forum:

"Biggest difference to mainline IB shorthaul onboard is legroom. IB runs 34" seat pitch in J, 31" in Y on an A320 (with some seats at the front of Y sometimes benefitting from better legroom depending where the curtain is).

I2 has 28" seat pitch in Y and 30" in J (3-3 with middle seat empty), so J is about the same as new CE on BA. Apart from that, there isn't a huge amount of difference in practical terms to IB in service offering etc"

Also with Iberia Express if you sign up for their Club Express you get a 10% discount off the flights and it's free to join! If you want to see what they are like check out my trip report in the Cardiff Iberia Express thread! Yes a very shameless plug there! :):shamefullyembarrassed:

I watched that last night and totally forgot to comment.

It was another excellent trip report, I really enjoyed it (y)

Madrid goes 5x weekly from 30th March :)

It operates on Sun, Mon, Tue, Thur and Fri.

Awesome news Mr F (y)

I wonder if they would consider switching to Iberia mainline in the future, our friend Mr Blake Edgington didnt give IBX a very good report when he recently travelled with them from Palma de Mallorca (PMI) to Madrid Barajas (MAD). The plane was filthy :vomit:

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
