Yet another new airline for BHX, blue air to Bucharest.

Seriously, Will Pearson and his team have been busy little bees.

Jesus Christ, you wait for one airline to serve Bucharest and then 2 come along at the same time?!?!?!

Source? cant find anything on their website...

Thanks User001

It's on their Facebook page. They have announced over 20 new routes today.

More super news for Brummie travellers.
I can see a fares war starting which will be good initially, but in the long term may put some airlines off going up against larger more aggressive airlines.
Blue Air is another unknown brand in the Midlands so it will be interesting to see how this pans out.
I wonder what the record is for the number of new routes/airlines announced in a 12 month period is for BHX.We can't be far off that can we??

Will be very interesting to see how they get along. Hopefully it'll mean extra choice and will complement the Wizz flights.

I think the arrival into OTP on Tue is wrong, possibly 22.45.

Thank you Sir, I've now edited it :hatsoff:

I notice that Blue Air have also added Liverpool - Cluj which would be a nice one for BHX to possibly aim for in the future?

This is really great news.

BHX is flying, what a great 2016 we should have, even better than 2015.

More airlines, the better.

It should be a 737-400 but they do have a very limited number of other 737 variants.

Great to see more 737s at BHX, they are being taken over by the Airbus A320.

Boeing 737s all the way for me folks.

Their fleet consists of:
2 737-300s
10 737-400s
1 737-500
1 737-700
1 737-800

This is a list of all the new destinations. If things go well for them I'd like to see Cluj or Bacau added in the future. I also didn't realise that they had a set up in Turin, it could be a nice winter route.

- Bucharest and Birmingham, Castellon, Glasgow, Hamburg, Lyon, Stockholm
- Bacau and Madrid, Stuttgart
- Cluj and Dublin, Liverpool
- Iasi and Barcelona, Brussels, Cologne
- Sibiu and Cologne
- Turin and Athens, Lamezia Terme, London, Madrid, Menorca, Palma de Mallorca, Rome, Stuttgart
- Athens and Constanta

I agree about Turin, I think we need more flights there.

Bacau is the route they're most likely to look at next but I think Wizz Air would be more likely to start Cluj.

Hopefully Bucharest will flourish with the competition between the two in the same way that Barcelona has done with Norwegian and Vueling.

Press release finally on the BHX website.

William Pearson, Aviation Development Director, Birmingham Airport, said: “Blue Air is the ninth new airline to announce or commence services to Birmingham Airport this year. We are excited to be part of Blue Air’s expansion programme for 2016 and pleased that they have chosen Birmingham. Bucharest is a bustling metropolis and popular weekend break destination so we are very pleased that our passengers will be offered more capacity and choice to the city from the spring.”

Gheorghe RACARU, General Manager Blue Air, said: ”We are happy to bring Birmingham closer to Romanian’s largest city and capital and we are sure that this new route will be popular with both our business and leisure travellers. The 2016 summer schedule brings over 23 new Blue Air routes and the visible increase triggers an expansion of the fleet and number of employees. Blue Air fleet currently includes 15 aircraft and by the end of March next year it will reach a total of 20 Boeing 737 aircraft.”

The Customer Service and Flight Departments were the main services that contributed to the increase in Blue Air’s headcount by over 50% compared to 2014. Presently the company has 750 employees and turnover will reach 200 million euro in 2015 and the number of passengers will exceed two million. At present, Blue Air has three operational bases in Romania and two overseas bases in Italy and Cyprus. By next summer it will fly to 65 routes within Europe. Blue Air has been operating from United Kingdom since 2008.

Looks like Blue Air are doing really well right now, so hopefully they can co-exist with Wizz on Bucharest in the same way Vueling are doing with Norwegian on Barcelona. 65 destinations to connect to is not to be sniffed at. Wizz will have loads of connections too.

Let's just hope Blue Air don't do a Flybe at Bucharest

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
